Product Description

Product Description

CHILDREN OF THE CORN (1984) Released in 1984, and adapted from a popular Stephen King short story, the original CHILDREN OF THE CORN became one of the most successful of the author's page-to-screen adaptations. Starring a pre-TERMINATOR Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton (TV's THIRTYSOMETHING) as a travelling couple who unwittingly become trapped in the fictional town of Gatlin, Nebraska, and find themselves stalked by a creepy clan of young cultists. No adult is allowed to survive in Gatlin or else, their prophecy predicts, the harvest will collapse. Co-starring popular genre face Courtney Gains (THE 'BURBS) and given a malevolent mid-western touch by director Fritz Kiersch (TUFF TURF), CHILDREN OF THE CORN remains one of the most spine-tingling terror titles of the 1980s.

CHILDREN OF THE CORN II: THE FINAL SACRIFICE (1993) Unsurprisingly, this blockbuster bout of bloodshed led to a franchise of fan favourite sequels - although it would take until 1993 for CHILDREN OF THE CORN II: THE FINAL SACRIFICE to rear its rural shocks. Once again set in Nebraska, this frightful follow-up has some members of a nearby town choosing to adopt the surviving adolescents from the previous pot-boiler. Unfortunately for them, a demonic entity out in the cornfields is planning to possess the supposedly sane school-kids so that a new crimson-caked celebration can begin. Featuring some malicious set pieces, and a script co-written by Gilbert Adler (producer of SUPERMAN RETURNS and VALKYRIE), CHILDREN OF THE CORN II: THE FINAL SACRIFICE carves up a thrilling entry into the winning franchise formula.

CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST (1995) Also re-mastered in HD for this very special set is CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST (1995), the concluding episode in the series to see the light of a cinema screen. Perhaps the most potent of all the CHILDREN OF THE CORN sequels, this third instalment gave an early role to future Oscar winner Charlize Theron (MONSTER/ MAD MAX: FURY ROAD). With Nebraska cowering in fear at the thought of another child-led slice and dice revolution, two youngsters are adopted and taken to Chicago - where, it would seem, they are safe from any satanic influences! Alas, the opposite is true, and even big city life is revealed to be irrelevant to our clan of pint-sized psychopaths. Another winner, with a slow-burning sense of suspense and plenty of gory thrills and spills, CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST is a spook-fest that more than deserves its BluRay reappraisal.

NEWLY COMMISSIONED FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY: THE LIFE, LEGACY AND LEGEND OF DON BORCHERS Accompanying this delicious package will also be a new full length documentary feature, THE LIFE, LEGACY AND LEGEND OF DON BORCHERS. As the title suggests this labour of love undertaking focuses on the charismatic and frequently unrecognised genius producer behind CHILDREN THE CORN as well as such B-movie classics as BEASTMASTER (1982), ANGEL (1984), CRIMES OF PASSION (1984), VAMP (1986), TWO MOON JUNCTION (1989), DESIRE AND HELL AT SUNSET MOTEL (1991), DOPPLEGANGER (1993), THE DEMOLITIONIST (1995) and many more. Developed and produced by Calum Waddell and Naomi Holwill of High Rising Productions, and directed by Jim Kunz, this feature production is sure to appease anyone curious about the challenges of creating quality low budget genre cinema.

CHILDREN OF THE CORN
Adapted from a short-story by the legendary writer 'Stephen King'
The film classed as one of the 80's slasher-movies became a huge box-office hit back in 1984 when first released.
The story follows 'Burt' (Peter Horton) and 'Vicky' (Linda Hamilton) on a journey come across a bloody murder
When arriving in the small town of 'Gatlin' in Nebraska to report what they have found it appears deserted.
Unbeknown to the couple at first is that a boy-preacher 'Isaac' (John Franklin) has gathered most of the children
of the town as his followers and ordered the killing of all adults.
As 'Outlanders' 'Burt' and 'Vicky' will be stalked by the blood-thirsty cult with 'Malachai' (Courtney Gains) doing the
bidding of the demonic 'Isaac'
The pair become trapped with little hope of making it out of 'Gatlin' alive, only with the help of 'Job' (Robbie Kiger)
and 'Sarah' (Anne Marie McEvoy) two young children not pulled into following the cult do they have any chance of
survival.
This film considered now as a cult-classic, certainly leading the trend of slasher movies that were to follow....
Unlike many of today's movies the result of the violent actions of the murderous cult is largely left to the imagination
....of course the success of the film led to four sequels being made.
The picture quality is not up to HD standard in truth though a marked improvement on it's DVD release.

Also Includes - The Life and Legacy of Donald P Borchers - an intimate celebration of the career of one of B-Movies lore's
most unrecognised mavericks.
The producer behind - ANGEL, CHILDREN OF THE CORN, CRIMES OF PASSION. DOPPLEGANGER, TWO MOON JUNCTION,
VAMP and many more speaks about the Hollywood mould.

PLOT... CHILDREN OF THE CORN.
A young couple is trapped in a remote town where a dangerous religious cult of children believe everyone over the age of 18 must be killed.

This is another great movie adapted from a Stephen King novel, a good addition to 88 films slasher classic line, there's plenty of grisly death mainly at the hands of children, the movie pretty much has an all child cast which is not as bad as it sounds, all the kids are weird and messed up and played by a good cast, the effects are cheap and there is little blood here and there but its an interesting idea for a story and well worth a looking if you love old cult 80's classics, the movie has a cool eerie soundtrack too!

The Blu-ray looks great in HD
Features are a documentary about producer Donald P Borchers (1hr-23mins)
Region B only, 92-mins, 1984.

PLOT... CHILDREN OF THE CORN 2
Authorities discover the mutilated bodies of adults in the secluded town of Gatlin and children hiding in the corn. Enter John Garrett and son Danny who head for Gatlin for the story of a lifetime, and boy do they find it as the kids are back to their murderous ways, will any adult survive the new reign of terror as the demonic corn demon is back!

This is a superior sequel in every way, the original was a great story to lay the foundation but the sequel takes it to a higher level with a better budget for sure and move lavish set pieces, the effects in the sequel are notably much, much better, there are some great kills with allot more bloody gore this time, the cast for me is much better too especially Christie Clark who has to be one of the most angelically beautiful girls to ever grace the earth!

This review is about the box-set, I could bore you about the plots of each film but there are better reviews on amazon who can tell you better than me.

Children of the Corn Blu-ray is very nice it gets a 4/5 and the sound is in 5.1 & Original sound track plus comes with English Subtitles.
The main bonus feature is called 'The Life, Legacy and Legend of Donald P Borchers which is on for 83 minutes. Comes with four page booklet.

Children of the Corn 2 Blu-ray is the best of the three films which gets a 5/5, but let-down by the sound which is in LPCM STEREO.
There are a few bonus features which includes original workprint. Plus comes with English Subtitles.

Children of the Corn 3 is the worst of the three when it comes to the Blu-ray quality its very grainy it gets a 2.5/5 and the sound is in LPCM STERO. You don't get subtitles.
The bonus feature you get is the Return to the Corn, and extended finale.

All films are in 1.78:1 Widescreen and Region 'B'

I have purchased this item although i haven't seen it yet, i must add that anyone who worries about film grain shouldn't because its exactly how its supposed to look! Film grain is good as that's how its intended - you can't get rid of film grain easily without sucking the life out of the picture. I'm looking forward to seeing this set - film grain and all!

This series had many chapters although they were poor received we had at least 7-8 movies which were named "children of the corn" .
I watched up to NO 7 called "revelations" and in my opinion only the first 3 movies which are included in this set are worth so this set has the best of those movies and u get rid of the useless sequels which followed.
Now don't expect much from the restored picture. It's an improvement to prior dvd releases but not worth for that reason only.
If u already have those movies on dvd don't spend your money on this set unless u are interested about the new extras only this set has.
U get to see the earlier works of the man who did those movies like "beastmaster" and there is a new doc about him and this is the reason i will get this set. not for the restored blu ray picture but for the extras.....so each to his own reasons.

As for the three movies in here the first is the best and then i will go for part 3 no matter if that monster at the end was A JOKE......LOL
Part 2 was the weakest of the three but still much better than the later sequels which followed.

UPDATE :

Because i have many comments asking me how i know the quality of the blu ray picture as the product is still unavailable to the public and because it seems a few people can not deal with it i will say it once more clear and loud.

I SAW THIS PRODUCT CAUSE I HAVE ACCESS TO THE PRODUCK CAUSE IT IS MY BUSINESS TO HAVE ACCESS AS I WORK IN THE MOVIE // DVD INDUSTRY .

HOPE U UNDERSTAND NOW CAUSE IT'S RIDICULUS TO HAVE ALL THOSE NEGATIVE COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE WHO DON'T BELIEVE I HAVE SEEN THIS PRODUCT.

I HAVE.....
