Derek returns in this one off special, and I must say I really enjoyed this with some funny scenes, and Kev was the star of the show.

Kev(David Earl) is just his normal vile disgusting self, and his speech at the wedding reception was horrific at best, but at the same time you can't help but like him, plus Derek is brilliantly played by Ricky Gervais once again.
But I was disappointed that Karl Pilkington didn't make an appearance, even a brief one would of been nice, but sadly no, and am not sure why his name was on the back cover?. There was a new character though. the angry bin-man who was very funny.

All in all a great one off episode, but just wished Dougie(Karl Pilkington) would return.

Series 1 of Derek was released on Bluray. Suspecting that series 2 would not be I used my Bluray recorder to get it in HD aswell as the special and it seems I was right to do so with Derek 2 and the Special following the special of Lifes Too Short in being unavailable on Bluray so it's a bit annoying to see the dvd of the special is an extended version albeit by only a few minutes. Is Bluray really that unpopular? We're getting too many releases where only some comes out on Bluray. I've lost count of the amount of material I've recorded in HD on Bluray only to find it gets a commercial release on dvd only. So now the choice is an extended version on dvd or do I watch the broadcast version in HD?
