In 1993 in Beatrice, Nebraska the high school put on a play called the gallows. An accident occurred on stage were Charlie was hung. Twenty years later that same high school is putting on that same play because it can. Football player Reese (Reese Mishler) joins the drama club and plays a speaking role next to drama queen Pfeifer (Pfeifer Brown) on whom he is crushing. Ryan (Ryan Shoos) films the whole thing and Cassidy (Cassidy Gifford) provides some addition cleavage.

The problem is Reese can't act so they decide to sabotage the stage so the play will be cancelled and Reese won't embarrass himself. A stage that is supposedly haunted.

This film suffers from the same thing as all hand held camera films. We have dark cam, the hall whispering cam, the what is that cam, the foot cam, the green cam, and the green foot cam. All this makes for a bad film. The twist at the end, I admit I didn't see coming. I liked it. The problem I had with the twist is that there is a "discovery" of things that happened 20 years ago, secrets I didn't think would exist in a small town where everybody knows everyone's business.

Guide: 1 whispered F-bomb. No sex or nudity.

Twenty years ago in the small town of Beatrice, there was a terrible accident that took place during a presentation of the play "The Gallows" at the High School.

Charlie Grimille, who was the understudy, filled in for the lead on opening night, but ended up swinging from the noose on stage during curtain calls.

In an attempt to honour the anniversary, Beatrice High School's drama department decides to revive the play in an attempt to put the past to rest.

Pfeifer, the star of the show, discovers her co-star, Reese, and a few of his friends, sabotaging the props one night. But when they are locked in the school with no cell service and no way out, they soon discover Charlie isn't at peace.....

When I first saw the trailer for this, I was completely blown away. It was terrifying, and straight to the point. Boom!! The Gallows, girl gets noose around neck and gets dragged away. Trailer done..

The film is very different, different as its a complete mess, poorly written, poorly acted, and quite incoherent. We basically spend the mercifully short duration watching teens waste their phone Batteries filming pointless walking back and forth down corridors.

On the odd occasion there is a figure holding a noose, but what's horrid about it is that it looks like Kane Hodder on occasion, and totally throws you.

The characters are wholly unlikable, and it all ends like you'd expect from a film that cannot decide where to go, abruptly.

The bit from the trailer is there, and it's still good, but your eyes will be so rolled back in disbelief that you'll probably miss it. Better still, just watch the trailer, you'll save yourself less anger than having to sit through this rubbish.

In 1993, A school play took place called 'The Gallows' and during that play one of the students involved called Charlie dies on a noose due to a prop accident. 20 years later in 2013 the school attempts to re-do the same play again. However, 3 students (including one who is suppose to play lead role in the play) decide to wreck the set one night. But things start going wrong as they soon become hunted by a supernatural sprit called 'Charlie' (The person who died in 1993) who wants them all dead. The film is very similar to the 'Paranormal Activity' films because its a found footage and the first half of the film was pointless and nothing much happened. In fact you didn't see much happen in total apart from a few jump scares and the odd glimpse of Charlie now and again. However, I did like the fact it was set in a school instead of all the usual horror locations (Houses etc.). Also when you did see Charlie his appearance was very creepy and strange. Also the twist at the end was unexpected and took me by surprise.

Overall, This isn't a bad film and it doesn't add much new to the found footage genre but its storyline is enjoyable and Charlie was a great villain!

Yet another film using hand held cameras ( am i the only one thats getting bored with this ). Four kids get locking in school at night, hunted down by the ghost of a actor that was killed in an accident during a play called the Gallows. The film was too dark, too shaky and the story line starts to get a bit thin the long the movie lasts, its okay if theres nothing on the TV to watch, but i don't think it a film that you will remember much after you turn it off. Far from a classic.

Spoilers..
My girlfriend and I went to see this in the cinema last night... And soon wished we hadnt!
The story is about a school doing a play that caused the death of one of their students after a prop malfunction. However when a group of students try to destroy the set the night before the show they start getting chased by the ghost of Charlie (the student that died.)
Call me weird, but personally I struggle to understand why any school would attempt a play that killed someone! Seems a bit disrespectful!!
Also the school seem to have no idea about a fire escape that doesnt lock giving the friends the chance to break in.
As it is recorded in a similar style to films such as Rec. It is at least a good hour of shaking cameras, boring conversations and a darkness before you even see Charlie (who despite his death has grown from a very skinny student to a long haired man with a professional wrestlers build!) Also if anyone can tell us how the actor/ american football player needs to see a recording of the 1993 cast photo to realise his dad was in the play (even though the same picture has been in the school hallway for god knows how long!) Please feel free to tell me!! This seems to just be another film that relys only on the occasional jumpy bit to keep your attention.
In conclusion if you have a couple of hours to kill and want something dull to watch AND someone else is paying, then by all means this is the film for you!!
