Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, Magic Mike XXL finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel.  But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them.  On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.

I liked the original Magic Mike, especially the fun dance routines. This movie by contrast has less dancing and more bro type bonding during their road trip to the Strippers Convention. Channing Tatum like so many other actors has trouble saying his lines, mumbling them out rather than speaking clearly and legibly aka John Gielguid, no doubt he has not been RADA or equivalent trained.

The dances themselves are very dirty, soft pornographic with simulated org-anisms, and I found them crude and technically lacking, where is Len Goodman when you need him to point out specific failings? That said the friendship between the men is nice to behold although you do worry for Channing's heterosexuality when he is bundled by a nude man into a swimming pool and confesses his love for drag queens.

A sweet inoffensive movie, meterosexual in its aspirations, with an aimless and hedonistic bent.

Magic Mike was, when you think back, a pretty story lead film. The characters were all deep in their own way and it made for a good excuse to watch Channing get his chest out in a 'serious' film.
Magic Mike XXL, totally the opposite! It is one of the funniest films I've seen for years, the entire cinema was laughing and cooing all the way through. The story is slightly far from reality, but that's part of its glory. There can not be a woman (and plenty of men) alive who would not absolutely love this film, it has eye candy, comedy and even moments of sadness for the most outrageous reasons. I cant wait to own it, I will be watching the garage scene over and over until the DVD gives up. Pure comedy, and omg, those beautiful faces...hehe

This was boring, clichéd... I cringed at Jada Pinkett's clichéd, tacky dialogue... the whole script was just boring, there was no clear plot or storyline...I just found myself waiting for Channing to take his top off and ignoring the rest of the film. The first one was a million times better.. this was disappointing.

Being a gay man I thought this might spice up my evening.

Jeez, what a heap of ****.

For starters, no-one in this film is capable of having a normal conversation, they are all so busy being unfeasibly cool.

Deuxiemement, if you think women reminding us every two seconds how amazingly empowered they are is just a tad childish and boring, you are going to be mightily bored throughout.

Thirdly, the director is so desperate to reassure us this is not a gay thing going on here, the film ends up being possibly the most unerotic movie about strippers ever devised.

Just awful.
