Product Description

From the controversial diretor of Irreversible and Enter the Void comes a sexual melodrama about a boy and his two girls. It's a love story, which celebrates sex in a joyous way.

This film should have been called 'Sex' not 'Love', as there is little or no love conveyed or captured here. However, it is a good attempt at showing the reality of affairs and relationships from the perspective of sex, which of course, although a key element for most people having affairs or relationships, is blurred out, panned away from, or faked in most other movies. The main character is quite miserable, so do prepare for his misery to rub off on you, by the end of the film. Regardless though, all films that take on and attempt to show the reality of this key element (sex) in relationships are still to be applauded.

buy the FRENCH version - it is in ENGLISH. From French Amazon site. Extra 30 minutes, fully uncut. If you buy that one you will have the experience this great director wanted you to have. Only silly people use the mid-Victorian term 'pornography' these days.

Gaspar Noé is having an awful lot of fun with this film, which is basically an almighty mickey-take of US culture in general, and US film-making in particular. The (American) main character Murphy has not been given a single line of dialogue which is anything other than dim, earnest teenage angst-gruel at best, and pre-teen ultra-sulky poor me-isms at worst. Once you get the comic intent, it starts to make a lot of sense, and one of the high points was the well-meaning lecture given to Murphy by one of the cops who arrested him after a particularly infantile episode of violence at an otherwise sophisticated arty-farty-party. The cop gives a sharp synopsis of the US enthusiasm for violence, and of course the fact that this liberal critique comes out of the mouth of a French cop is very drole. Murphy`s relentless charmlessness is either the result of inspired acting, inspired directing, or inspired casting, as it initially comes across as the actor having a go at a bit of improvisation with the absence of any talent to so do, but that`s before you realise that he is meant to be spectacularly lacking in talent or the awareness that he has no talent. The two women in his life are both beautifully acted, and the explicit vanilla sex is there to show the somewhat unimaginative nature of the US dominated porn industry. Murphy`s brief attempts to try out more challenging sexual experiences quickly run aground on his profound conservatism and downright cowardice, despite his pretensions otherwise. The final indignity that Noé heaps upon Murphy is the dreadful little moustache that he wears after settling down, down, down with his hated (blameless) girlfriend and baby. Great fun.

very much like fifty shades but very close to a hard core porn film.

This is crazy. The original film lasts for 135 minutes, and you present a film lasting 103 minutes. IT`S HALF AN HOUR SHORTER. Is film art? Why is there no fight with the cedncorship in England? How can you sell this amputee,Amazon? hans

Hi all you film buffs out there. First of all may I just say that there is no mention of strobe lighting or flashing lights in the disco or some other scenes.
As for the film itself, it is just what I wanted, lashings of graphic sex ,a wee bit hard to follow at times otherwise no problems. Well worth the money, better than some of the dearer dvd's I have bought. Not too overlong at just over 2 hours, time passes so quickly it doesn't seem that long.
So if you enjoy plenty of raunchy scenes with all on show(most of the time it is) then I recommend this film with no hesitation whatsoever, enjoy.

As far as I can make out, once again a brand new release with no subtitles. Is it too much to ask? £19 for a blu Ray with no extras, no subtitles. People like me, deaf or hard of hearing, are discriminated against. Film distribution companies take note: there are 900,000 deaf people in the Uk alone. I'd say you are ignoring quite a number of potential buyers.
