3.25 stars---There is quite a bit of hoopla surrounding the release of GREY-Christian Grey’s point of view-from E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey series and as in my review of the original series, I am not going to focus on the style of writing (which hasn’t changed); or the similarities to Stefanie Meyers’s –never released-Midnight Sun (Edward Cullen’s POV) because the Fifty Shades Series is a work of fan fiction based on the young adult Twilight Series by Meyers. GREY is what it is –Christian’s version of the events, his emotions and thoughts, as it pertains to his growing relationship with, and need for Anastasia Steele.

We all know the backstory behind Christian’s need for Dominance, and I was hoping for a little more insight from the now adult Mr. Grey. We get a front row seat into some of Christian’s nightmares and what occurred in his first few years of life but I found there was something lacking in the retelling of the events- perhaps it is the mind of a four year old that is unable to comprehend the extent of what had happened, and in this, the details are limited and inadequate.

What we do get is a little more information about the history between Leila and Christian but sadly very few details regarding his earlier years with Elena (aka Mrs. Robinson). Grey’s history with Elena would have made the storyline a little more exciting or perhaps a little more revealing as to the how and why. I say this because we are inside Christian’s head for most of the storyline: we are privy to his thoughts, need, ideas and emotions, yet when he reflects upon the past, the details are limited to what the reader is exposed.

I don't understand all of the negative reviews??!! Of course it's the same story, it's billed as the same story but from Christian's perspective! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him a little better and it was actually great to read the story without Ana's "oh my" moments and "inner goddess" references and so great to understand Christian's world a little better. Still a hot read, still one of my favourite fictional men, still waiting for the other 2 books to be written from his perspective too. And I'll download them. And enjoy them too. The end.

Whilst reading the the Trilogy of Fifty Shades, I kept thinking of what Christian feels in certain situations. What his thoughts are, as we are only getting Anastasia's point of view. So you could understand how euphoric I was, when I found out that E L James has written, Christian's side of the story. As much as I loved reading the Trilogy of Fifty Shades, I even loved Grey better.
Grey, as told by Christian is obviously the flip side of Fifty Shades, but it brings you closer to Christian. Makes you understand him more. You see all sides of how Christian feels and is(unworthy to be loved, wounded, domineering, possessive, caring, flippant, generous, funny and loving). Reading this side of the story, you get both characters points of view and it makes the picture of the story in your mind even more amazing, because you get into the mindset of both Anastasia and Christian. I'll recommend to anyone, who has read Fifty Shades or the Trilogy, to buy and read Grey as told by Christian too.
I haven't seen the movie, and as I haven't heard good reviews about it, especially from those who have read the books. I don't look forward to watching it, as I have my own movie in my mind from reading these books, even made better, by reading Grey too. I just can't wait to read the follow ups to Grey. I'm praying the next book to, Grey as told by Christian, gets published soon. x

it was just a copy & paste exercise by the author. Only difference was every now & again you got Grey's take on it such as "get a grip Grey" "what are you thinking Grey". The only bit I enjoyed was the last few pages on his feelings about "getting his girl". Felt this was very poor and the author taking advantage.

Well what can you say, think she was dammed if she did and dammed if she didn't, I generally enjoyed the book, didn't expect too much when I was reading it so because of this I enjoyed it. I have read reviews of people saying it was the same story just Edited on Christian's bits however I think if she had changed it too much she would have been slated for it too. I liked looking at the book from his perspective and feel she could have explored his feelings a bit more but overall I will look forward to the 2nd instalment from Grey's point of view.

I don't really understand why people are slating this book so much, in all the promo it has said it's from Christians POV,
So to me that tells me straight away that it's the same story (obviously) but with his thoughts. Some readers were obviously expecting something entirely different, going by there responses.
Downside points: author is quite repetitive, but so was the trilogy. And everyone went crazy for that..
Good points: to hear a bloke POV struggling with falling in love..
Just my opinion :)
