Product Description

When Diana, a popular stripper at the famous Flamingo Nightclub, collapses and dies on stage, her death is quickly attributed to natural causes . However, the club's comic (and Diana's beau), is not convinced. The police aren't interested so he sets out alone to find some answers. He soon finds that he's treading a dangerous path. Luckily he doesn't have to do it all alone, encouraged by fiesty stripper Angelin, the club's showgirls are willing to help and together they set a trap to expose the truth...

I would like to go a bit deeper than "Tim" in my comments. As I have noted in other film reviews I do enjoy British "B" movies particularly of the 50's and 60's. But I'm quite able to sort pure rubbish from a film that actually has something to offer, and "Striptease.." does just that. No, of course it's not a great film, but it is unusual, in that it's hero, John Hewer (who?) is unlike any other hero (a poor variety comic who jokes between strippers, but he has a heart of gold and is married to a (much?) younger lovely dancer played very well and feistily by Jean Muir,). There is no heroine as such, but the bad girl is played by the much underused and valued Ann Lynn, who gives a performence above the material she is given to work with. Having made that comment, the script is much better than most "B" films and has a couple of sort of twists and turns, quite strong violence (slightly trimmed), some fascinating strip scenes, which seemed to me must have been quite sexy at the time. and a pace that's not often seen in this type of film. Some viewers may feel I exagerate the charms of this film, and maybe I do a bit, but it's definitely worth a view among the dross that Pegasus release in this mistitled "Classic British Cinema" seies. Print and sound quality remarkably good. Reccomended!.

Surprisingly good short 'B' movie from 1961 starring one of Britain's finest actresses, Ann Lynn!

Ann Lynn, the actress who doesn't even need a script, stars as 'nasty Rita' - a bitter young woman who's a Singer in a small Strip Club. She means to have half an illegal drugs business, dates the Leader of the Ring then blackmails him. She's bitten off more than she can chew when he in turn decides to be rid of her - not just out of his bed, but disposed of completely! Instead, another girl gets killed...

Well worth watching this with some great looking women for the guys and some really cool dancing - including an exceptional and exciting dance performance by Jean Muir as the 'Stripper'!

Fair quickie about a murder case at a strip joint (not a lot of stripping, no nudity nipples covered by pasties) involves the stage comic tracking down the murderers, a bit disappointing but passes an hour.
