Just received my Nekromantik Ltd blu Ray. Beautifully packaged release of a movie I never thought the BBfc would pass uncut. There's enough written about the movie elsewhere but to the person moaning about the cover, you stick with your extreme for extremes sake nonsense. The fact that it's actually available legitimately is the big deal and congratulations to arrow for making it happen.

Yet again Arrow films have outdone themselves with an amazing Blu-ray package, Nekromantik is a very unique and disturbing movie made in the 80's that deals with morbid fantasies about death and such, I think even now for the time it was made its still a very disturbing film and has the same effects on anyone watching it, the movie is a bout a couple who live together and both have a fascination for death, Rob works for a company clearing up dead bodies at accidents etc and has the opportunity to bring home souvenirs for his collection, it ranges from eyes, hearts and a full corpse which they sleep with, when he loses his job his girlfriend leaves him and life starts to go down hill for Rob, the movie is full of graphic images of sex with bodies, bloody dead corpses at accidents, animals being tortured and skinned, plus a load of other gory scenes and perverse sexual acts etc, this movie is certainly not for anyone, you will love it or hate it, its pretty hard-core and very unique and there's nothing quite like it, I say its sick yes and its a masterpiece in its own right yes, even though its grisly to want to watch you have to watch it, its also a grounded in reality horror story too, if your a hard-core horror buff make sure you check this one out! you certainly wont forget it.

Blu-ray picture is great remastering, plays in Aspect ratio 1:33:1 (borders at the sides)
The limited edition has more special features for the money than you could possibly ever need, hour and hours worth! plus an amazing 98page book! And a copy of the CD soundtrack with 27 tracks, art cards, and limited 3000 copies certificate.
Region B only, 71mins feature, 1987/2014
German language with English subtitles.

A simply amazing set. I've seen this film in various formats, in varying qualities, over the years, but never as good looking as this.
Film aside - you're either in for this content or you're not - the extras, both on disc and the book and paper ephemera, are what elevates this above other editions.

excellent Blu-ray treatment for a film that I didn't think would ever get a bbfc certificate. the box is really cool with postcards and polaroid's included, also a well produced book with loads of cool stuff in it. and the soundtrack. the cleaned up print of nekromantik is great and there's another version which is a direct transfer if you want to go old school.

the film itself - easily as sick and random as you remember it from the 80's (or whenever you first saw it). this is not a film to blind buy because you've heard good things, make sure you know what your getting or you really could end up in a bad mood.

personally I think its hilarious, but someone's girlfriend walking out on him because she fancies a corpse more is inherently funny.

The packaging and contents of this release are excellent and I'm sure any collector will be thrilled with the contents, which include an extensive booklet and a few photographs. The same can be said of the bonus features, which delve into the making of the film and its controversy following the release.

However, the film was enjoyable only on the level of it being interesting historically rather than a good film in its own right. I'm not talking about the extreme content of the film, which made me physically sick at least twice, but rather the terrible production value and poor acting. It does have the look and feel of a home video and it's obviously a film completed on a shoestring budget.

So if you're thinking of buying, be aware of this and prepare yourself for it.

There is no question about this being a fantastic release, Arrow have done a brilliant job on this and I hope they continue to make releases as good as this. The film however is pretty damn average, and I think people will be saying how great this film is because they don't want such a deluxe package that they admit is bad. It's an interesting film in some respect, as it gives you an insight into a seedy, gritty world that viewers will very rarely witness, and there are some scenes that are quite thrilling to watch, and that being said I really liked the ending of this film. But, the acting was awful and the whole film had an amateur feel to it that some may have enjoyed, but I personally thought it made the film as dreary as the acts being committed. I know that this may be the point of the film, but in that case I wouldn't approach doing a film like this. There are many examples of Extreme/shock cinema that are brilliant, and I consider myself a big fan, but this film seemed so lazy. This is a decent film, but it is being way too over-hyped.
