I don't know if it's because I like to give an underdog (pardon the pun) a chance, but having staggered through a number of 'flops' and unknown movies this year and found some to be ok I decided to give 'Pudsey the Dog' a go. Not much in the way of expectations here as the film was a box office and critical disaster and currently has a rare 0% rating on rottentomatoes website.

I guess the way you approach this is whether or not you like Pudsey the Dog himself (as in the actual winner of Britain's got Talent a year or two back), whether you like 'talking animal' movies (like Babe the Pig) or whether you can watch this without thinking of Simon Cowell and immediately getting angry about it. Sadly I only fall into one of these categories and that is that Pudsey is actually a very sweet dog and he is voiced quite wonderfully by David Walliams with a very cheeky enthusiasm. The human actors don't have quite the same appeal and goodness knows why John Sessions agreed to be in this. He's the moustache twirling smarmy baddie who plans on building a huge superstore in the 'green and pleasant land' of Chuffington village (and he hates dogs too). Pudsey and his human 'family' have to save the day. You can probably guess if they do or not.

It's quite watchable as a movie, but even at 85 minutes it feels too long, and the last 30 minutes just throws a few extra 'dancing dog' scenes into the mix to extend what you're watching rather than the plot. I don't imagine kids will get a lot out of this either as there's a backstory of the family having lost their father, kids being bullied and being weird and outcast. The funniest part is probably the pig that thinks it's a chicken and it keeps laying 'eggs'......

Not the disaster you'd expect to sit through though not recommended either. It's still miles better than 'Diana' though

I saw Pudsey and Ashleigh's performances when they were on the X Factor for the first time, and whilst I didn't find them as amazing as they were lead on to be, I still found them rather enjoyable. Too bad none of that is in this "movie". I thought this would be maybe an origin story about how Pudsey and Ashleigh came to become stars, with a few elements of fiction. But, unfortunately, Ashleigh, the trainer who made this all possible, is no where to be seen is this. The trailer says it was directed by the same guy who made that Horrid Henry Movie a couple years ago, and it really shows.

The director clearly had no idea what to do with this, so instead of a plot that's the least bit interesting, we get the tale of a dancing dog named Pudsey (who dances like, TWICE in the whole film) who befriends a few kids and decides to stow away with them on their journey to their new house in the countryside. The landlord, who doesn't like dogs very much, tries to get him taken away so that he can proceed with his plans to destroy the farm and build a supermarket in its place. Now its up to Pudsey and his friends to help save the farm before its too late.

If that plot sounded like the most idea for a movie ever conceived, you're going to hate this movie. If the plot sounded even the slightest bit interesting though, you're STILL gonna hate this movie.

I don't think anyone made any ammount of effort on this movie at all. The actors are okay, but the characters are about as interesting as ceiling fans, and there isn't anyone I can identify with. The children are all boring, the adults are all boring and David Walliam's voice is so incredibly out of place and obnoxious as the main star, Pudsey.

My 10 year old son loves going to the cinema, but we missed this film. The DVD arrived quickly and it was well packaged. The film wasn't as good as we thought it would be, but obviously that is down to personal taste. It was still entertaining enough and worth a watch with the kids on a cold, wet weekend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film, it's better than some of those cheaper animal films, well I didn't think that was ok, but I 'm mot watching that again, once was enough, it was a case of hay that was good, i'll have to see if I can get my own copy (I hired it from love film to start with). Not being a fan of Britain got talent I hadn't heard of Pudsey the dog before & JUDGING BY THE picture I thought it was a movie about a bigger dog, like an old English sheep dog, so was slightly disappointed on that score, but soon got over it. It has some slightly dodgy moments, not to much. Like a lot of kids films it's not one to be taken too seriously.

Could not wait to see this film, but was greatly disappointed. If you are a Pudsey fan then you should buy it, but if not then I do not recommend it at all.

Utterly fab, everyone likes this movie in the family and my 9 year old son and I have watched it several times - sometimes with his friends too. Invest in this movie and The Paddington Movie for loads of quality time with your children. A change from the often too adult and too hyper stuff that is mostly thrown at our children by the irresponsible money men.
