I read a few rave reviews and gave it a whirl. Big mistake. I thought the tone was just all wrong. Too much masturbation and some wholly unnecessary gore. What could have been a sweet and touching film about an ice-cream man with learning disabilities and an obsession with a daytime soap opera starlet turned into a disturbing mess.

You wanted to sympathise with Warren (the ice-cream man) but after he's been masturbating on screen for about ten minutes (in total) you lose interest - or I did.

The final third, where he has a psychotic break, was quite well handled.

Mercifully, it was a relatively short movie.

Awesome little Indy drama/comedy with a surprising amount of emtional punch. Glenn Maynard in the lead is brilliant. Nicely shot and the music is great, highly recommend for lovers of independent films like Dead Mans Shoes, Taxi Driver, etc.

Oh dear. I love Australian movies, usually. The tone of this film is all wrong. The main character is at turn heart-wrenchingly pitiful or an attempt at black humour clumsily aimed at an unspecified mental deficiency. Another major theme was the supposed mockery of Aussie soaps, compared with the 'realism' of CSV. So a cameo by a well-regarded ex-Neighbour's star sort of defeated the 'radical' message. Utter crap really...

An indie film on a very small budget .
This is a slow burner, although short, but worth sticking with.
The main character is not someone you can really love or really hate but he is someone who pulls you along with his life and and you do feel for him - what you feel may vary.
This is an enjoyable little film with essences of "Taxi Driver" but please don't take that as a film of that quality.
Enjoy it for what it is - a man trying to live his life in a world he doesn't quite understand.
