The film opens with a college girl finishing a race only to collapse and die moments later. Later on somebody starts murdering all the members of the college track team..
"Graduation Day" is a decent slasher film so if you're a fan of the good old 80's slashers then it's a no brainer that this is a must own. Surprisingly there's not too much gratuitous nudity compared with others of its kind and it's not as gory as say "The Burning" or "Friday the 13th". Although not a total classic it's certainly fun and is still light years ahead of stinkers like "Home Sweet Home", Terror at Tenkiller or "Don't go in the Woods". The direction is pretty good for the type and there's good tension created to some of the deaths. The final face-off between remaining girl and killer is also very entertaining.
BE WARNED: If you get the UK version don't read the back cover before watching as it reveals the identity of the killer.

This is one horror slasher that is by the book in every way! Its weeks before graduation and the track teams best runner drops dead from a blood clot, her sister in the navy comes down to pay her respects then a series of murders start to occur as the track team are being picked off one by one by a killer! As usual the finger points at everyone throughout the movie, there's a big reveal at the end like most slashers when we find out the killer and bodies start showing up, its all good low budget fun, plenty of cool gore effects, nothing major but good bloody and practical effects, the cast is great a young fresh energetic bunch of youngsters that are fun to watch and drive these cheesy 80's slasher movies! Of course there is your flash of boob here and there too, if your a big horror fan then certainly check this classic out, 88 films have yet again done a top notch release!

Blu-ray has Pretty decent picture quality for an old movie! (Troma, 88Films)
Tons of brilliant bonus features including a scream queens documentary 1hr 17mins which has interviews and clips with loads of great classic actresses, plus many other short featurettes and interviews, trailers etc.
Region ABC free, comes in a sweet blood red slim case as shown, 96mins, 1981.

This is No1 in 88films slasher classic line and certainly makes you want more! Great release!

I managed to buy this film cheap on blu ray, glad I did because although the video is an upgrade the sound quality isn't. After just over eleven minutes into the film you can hear a constant buzzing.
I personally found this annoying, only the occasional ambient sounds distract from the buzzing.
88 Films did an nice job with the extras and video quality, but disappoint with the sound quality.
My old DVD of this film has a better soundtrack without the buzz.

After a teenage girl collapses & dies after a track meet, a killer stalks and kills several members of the schools track & sports team.

Decent if unremarkable campus slasher. Slightly different than some very similarly themed films in that the young characters aren't the focus of attention and is a bit better because of it. Patch Mackenzie, Christopher George & Michael Pataki aren't your usual slasher characters and all give strong and maybe even far better performances than you might expect. The story is fairly standard stalk'n'slash/whodunit stuff, but the lead turns do give it a lot more credibility and strength, the mystery part of it though isn't great and a little transparent from quite early on. Never that scary, but the mystery killer adds a bit of a creepy tension throughout, some of the kills are fun using there own sports equipment to do it & their is some fun in seeing them bumped off. Director Herb Freed does his best to keep the film from stalling too much and in that is quite successful (the original theatrical release is far better in achieving this compared to the extended slightly re-edited version that's been released on DVD/Blu-Ray that does have a little more pacing issues), the climax is a bit longer than it needed to be but is still enjoyable.

Rather surprisingly this quite mild slasher was though obscene enough to be listed as a Section 3 nasty in the UK, even a small glance with prove there were idiots for thinking it, but needless to say this is far more watchable and interesting than a lot of horrors from the period not especially memorable but hardly a bad film. 3.5/5

Very good upgrade with lots of extras (mainly troma junk but most notably the Scream Queens documentary not on the USA release that's worth the price of this disc.
However for better extras including commentaries you need to get the USA disc

Graduation Day is a fairly effective if somewhat routine slasher-whodunnit, but I was absolutely livid that the blurb on the back completely ruins the twist and tells you who the killer is! WHAT??? WHO DOES THAT?!!?!?!
