This is yet again one crazy over the top Japanese movie that you just have to see, basically a brilliant doctors wife is raped and killed by a sicko gangster who's into all kinds of vulgar sex with dead people and generally likes to torture and hurt women while raping them, the doctor finds a young girl who's at deaths door on drugs etc and turns her life around and over time shapes her into an assassin, once she becomes ready she has pieces of a gun put inside her body which she must later remove to assassinate the gangster, it all sounds crazy and messed up and it is I assure you with plenty of bloody gory violence and lashings of nudity from the lovely lead actress Asami (The Machine Girl, RoboGeisha, Mutant Girls Squad) if your a fan of these types of crazy Japanese movies then this is a must see, top sick Entertainment!

Blu-ray picture is good.
Features lack unfortunately with just image gallery and trailers.
Languages are English and Japanese (English Subtitles when Japanese are speaking)
Region B only, 86mins, 2014.

I loved the idea of this,a man getting his revenge for his raped and murdered wife,so cleans up and trains a female junkie to become the ultimate fighting machine.
Yes,she does fight naked,which is how he got her into the place to kill who she must kill and yes,there is a lot of gore,but it just doesn't quite work.
The woman bleeding form her wounds she had to inflict on herself to retract the gun parts,has so long before she passes out and dies and the actress does a great job,but some of the characters are too silly to be taken seriously and the action doesn't make up for the wait and disappointment of a film that lacks that something special. The woman isn't stunning,which in my view would've helped as it is a selling point,with her being naked and she just doesn't come across as a dangerous killing machine,she was nothing like the one in CHOCOLATE.
But still,it is enjoyable,a film to watch for escapism,but just don't expect anything special,i made that mistake and was left disappointed.

The look of this movie is fantastic, it sweeps over you, very big and epic, visually reminding me of Tarantino, Leone and even Kubrick. Starring the unique Asami in an exhausting, overwhelming over-the-top role. Barely talking, barely clothed, piercing eyes, unequaled body language. Her best performance I've seen so far (second best would be in Deco Truck Gal Nami 2 alongside Akiho Yoshizawa; third best: Sukeban Boy alongside Emiru Momose) because she puts so much energy into the role and is shining with credibility, easily displaying bodily strength as well as mental vulnerability. And she's versatile: Not only is she apt in handling the gun. She jumps about stark naked performing martial arts knocking huge men down in a way that has to be seen to be believed. The plot (with its sub-plot) is crafty. Suspense is created by using a formula Kurosawa also used in "7 Samurai": First you are shown the preparation of a plan, then you are shown its realization, and you compare both while there are always surprises popping up, right until the very end of the movie. By the way a more poignant title for "Gun Woman" could have been "Jû-yon" or "14". After watching the movie you know what I mean.

A hitman and his driver retell a story about "Gun Woman." A rich sick individual (Noriaki Kamata), who would rape and kill women (not necessarily in that order) kills the wife of a doctor and cripples the doctor (Kairi Narita). In order to obtain revenge, the doctor buys and trains a meth head to do his killing. That is Asami , the title character.

The film has slightly more depth and a minor end twist, but that is basically the film. Toss in some blood, killing, and rape and you have a mediocre Japanese grindhouse.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, rape, full frontal nudity.

AWESOME MOVIE !!!
Highly recommend this movie, if you love crazy japanese splatter,ultra violent, gore filled movies and of coarse ASAMI. Although can't stress this enough,the version to buy is the shout factory u.s region 1 dvd or bluray release. The uk version is slighty cut by the bbfc. Can't recommend the uncut version enough. Asami is perfection as the female assassin.
