I always loved the original film but felt like there was something missing. It is all here in this combo pack! Extra footage, replaced scenes and add special effects. This film makes more sense now and has better character development. It is still the same great film yet it looks so different and it is what the fans have been waiting for all this time. This is for fans of horror and the might Clive Barker. I also know some people who are not Barker fans but still love this film. What I love about this movie is the fact that the monsters are good guys and the people are the bad guys they certainly act more like monsters. I love this version completely very well done.

After years of searching, the original cut elements from Nightbreed have been located and restored. Not only that, but Clive Barker has recut the film to restore the original story and focus on the 'monsters' rather than Decker the serial killer.

So disliked by the studio originally that they recut it heavily and then dumped it on the market using a still from an entirely different film as the promo poster, Nightbreed still retained enough originality of vision to intrigue and gradually an army of fans arose who wanted to see the missing scenes.

I can remember visiting Tower Records London who had many of the original props on display when the film was released at the cinema, including the Cheetah Lady riding a creature-finally in the new version, we get to see this stop-motion character for a precious few seconds!

Barker has removed a large element of the Decker scenes but inserted extra creature scenes so the movie may not run as long as you expect, but it is a very different beast.

The additional scenes do show some grain but that is only to be expected given the nature of the source. I am delighted to have this is my collection.

Had been waiting for about a year or more, and finally got this great director's cut of the fantasy horror film which was butchered by the distribution and studio over twenty years ago. Old footage was found finally a couple years ago, they toured it around film festivals internationally, then after demand and strong response, cleaned up and restored it all. Here we have it.
This is different to the rough toured 'Cabal Cut' but it is a director approved cut and it is great to watched. Be warned- this is an American only dvd/Bluray so far. Even on this 2 disc version (there is a 3 disc very expensive version) we get an hour or interviews, documentary, behind scenes 40 mins, and director film commentary too. Great value. Hope there will be a UK release in future.

Right first off what the hell is with some of the negative reviews, this film is one of my all time favourites and i have been waiting for this release for years i even signed a petition for its release! Anyway the bluray is region1 if people are too stupid to realise whta they're buying its there own fault, i own the original dvd release as well as this and i can safely say that this is a far SUPERIOR product. The extra footage is excellent and adds quite alot to the story which is already amazing, always loved midian and the thought of it, if you love midian try cradle of filths album Midian, its based upon this movie, and goes hand in hand.

Really enjoyed the film. The extra content allows fan/'s/s/ of
the movie, to experience a version, inkeeping or
faithful to, which was envisioned or desired by
the author himself, Clive Barker, from his book Cabal,
which the film was based upon. The adaptation of the
book to film wasn't an easy task, and the film was
patched together. This patched cut or version was regarded as
the final version or complete version. However lost
footage emerged years later, and the story or facts
regarding the completeness of the film came to
light. Thankfully the lost footage was somewhat salvageable....... a lengthy
process started...... with consultation/approval seeked/granted
/from/by/ Clive Barker, and the dedication of a band of film professionals,
some of whom were associated with the original version or cut...... The
task began, to bring together the footage (newly found and existing) and create
a remastered and more complete version of the movie...... For the purist, as
fully endorsed/approved by Clive Barker himself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Director's Cut gives the film a new lease of life, and allows fan/'s/s/ of the book, and
those who viewed it, in its non director cut/version, to now see it, as it was intended to be
shown........ By definition a director's cut.

First off, I heard a rumour some time ago about 'lost' footage of Nightbreed coming to light, then an article in a genre magazine seemed to support this, then finally it is released on bluray . . . . but, again, only in America!!!!!! I then realised that as a bluray/dvd multi pack (which normally, I admit, I tend to think 'what is the point?') then although the bluray will not play on my player, the dvd will. I bought a Sony bluray player which does play multi-region dvds but only reg 2 blurays. Worth a punt? as I have always kind of preferred Nightbreed over Hellraiser, thought it worth a look. As other reviews contain all the necessary info about content etc, I won't go on about that aspect. Personally, I like the fact that this is 2 hours long with the additional footage and I cannot see the join, as it were.
For me, well worth the outlay and as for the fact only the dvd plays, well, it is said that bluray players will 'upscale' dvd formats by 25% and for my money, that will do for me. I would rather a decent dvd of this film than nothing at all!
And, as a kind of bonus, the inner sleeve is reversible, so one can have hours of fun deciding which way round to have it!!
