This year, 2014,has a lot of big, Beatles anniversaries and this includes the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first movie, "A Hard Day's Night." This is a 2 DVD package; the first disc being the cleaned up, restored and remixed version of the movie and the second disc consisting of extra bonus features:

In Their Own Words- interviews with the Beatles along with behind-the-scenes footage and photos.

You Can't Do That: The Making of `A Hard Day's Night,' which is the documentary hosted by Phil Collins, released on video in 1995. I know a lot of fans really wanted this included on the last DVD release of the film, so I am sure that many will be delighted to have it in this package.

Things They Said Today - this includes many interviews with people involved with the film, most of which I have seen before. Still, it is interesting to hear the stories from everyone from Alun Owen, actors and those behind the scenes.

Picturewise -a new piece about Richard Lester's early work and includes an audio interview. A real shame that the UK release does not include The Running Jumping and Standing Still film, which is on the US edition of this. I am not sure what the reason is, but hopefully it may appear on the next repackaging...

Anatomy of a Style -another mini documentary on Dick Lester's methods and style

Audio commentary with cast and crew

New 50th Anniversary Trailer

For those who have never seen the film, you are in for a treat. This is the Beatles in the midst of Beatlemania, when their huge success was just taking off and everything was new and exciting. They are also good actors - even Paul, who always seems to come in for criticism, is pretty good, ("I'd ask you myself, only I'm shy....").

This constitutes great value for money. Now I'm old enough to remember the excitement generated by the release of this when it came first to the cinemas and, although many of us have seen it all before (and probably know the dialogue backwards and forwards), it still maintains its charm. Quite simply it is a valuable piece of both UK pop music and cinema history rolled into one. The DVDs contain more or less everything available on film (except "I'll Cry Instead" still montage & USA "jumping..." promo), Along with the feature the package includes the making of it, the people involved and a few outtakes as bonus. The fact that it's black and white does not spoil the enjoyment factor one bit, in fact it adds to the nostalgia and ambiance of the story. For generations young and old, this is a great buy. Still fresh as the day it was released "All Those Years Ago" A Hard Day's Night sits worthy in the grand archives of cinematic history and is a thoroughly entertaining film each and every viewing. Worthy in my books as 5 star entertainment.

After becoming a huge Beatles fan over the last year or so I simply had to see this film and see what all the fuss was about among other Beatle fanatics. It did not disappoint. The boys created laugh-a-minute comedy in their film and the songs had me tapping along with my foot the whole way through. It may have been 50 years but John, Paul, George and Ringo are still making people smile, dance and sing all around the world. The film was had wonderful picture quality and sounds as though it could have been filmed in 2014 let alone 1964. Totally recommend this film for any Beatles fan. Perfect for watching with friends or just on your own snuggled up in a duvet.

'A Hard Day's Night' is a British comedy film from the landmark musical year of 1964, and made during the height of the intense fan frenzy that was known 'Beatlemania'. In The Beatles' first-ever feature film, George, Paul, John and Ringo play themselves in this delightful little flick, which portrays several 'typical' days in the lives of the band, who, trying escape the hoards of fans, board a train from Liverpool to record a TV show.

Although none of them were really natural actors, the Fab Four did a fairly good job, and were clearly having a lot of fun with this. They played it for laughs, and it isn't hard to warm to these loveable Liverpudlians. Even if you were to not enjoy the film, fans of the Beatles' music will love the ample performances of incredible songs throughout, including the band's early hits 'I Should Have Known Better', 'I Wanna Be Your Man', 'Can't Buy Me Love', 'She Loves You', and obviously the title track.

A big thank you must go to those who were involved in the making of this movie, for allowing us to be able to keep a brief piece of this exciting time in The Beatles' sacred history, and of a wonderful era which has long past now.

Released in 2014, to celebrate The Beatles' 50th anniversary, this double DVD set offers a very clean transfer of 'A Hard Day's Night', and has lots of special features that any devoted fan will die for.

Such treats include:

1. 'In Their Own Words': This is a brand new piece which combines 1964 interviews with The Beatles with behind-the-scenes footage and photographs.

2. 'You Can't Do That!': This is a 'making-of' documentary by producer Walter Shenson including an outtake performance by The Beatles.
