Product Description

FOUND is a unique and supremely disturbing coming-of-age story of a boy whose big brother is a serial-killer.

Growing up is tough for Marty. His parents don't understand him and he is bullied at school. He has only his big brother to look up to...that is until he discovers his brother's chilling secret and a severed head in a sports bag at home.

FOUND unravels a gripping and gruesome story that captures what it's like to grow up in the time of VHS tapes and video nasties, as the American dream and everyday suburbia descends into a home-grown hell that will leave even the most hardened horror fan shocked by its disturbing finale.

"One of the most gut-wrenching experiences I've had in a long time" (Dark Media)
"A compelling, unique and, yes, totally sick portrait of a serial killer" (Twitch Film)
"The horror film that true genre fans have been waiting for" (HorrorNews)

This is a rare jewel among a crowd of low budget indie films. Shot for $8000 with many newcomers by a team that love movies and know how to make one. 12 year old Marty is a sensitive thoughtful boy who gets bullied at school and feels alone since he sees no point in telling any adults about his problems. What with that and bearing the secret that he has discovered his brother is a serial killer who keeps a secession of severed heads in a bowling ball bag in his closet, things are not really looking up for poor Marty. As events make Marty more angry and disillusioned, what effect will his grisly discovery have on him, and what will his brother do if he discovers that Marty knows? It plays more like a thoughtful family drama film than a mainstream horror with a gentle pace but it managed to get under my skin in many ways. The performances of the adults are serviceable but the performances of the kids are stellar. The lead Marty is on screen for practically every scene, including a voiceover and draws you into his world so that as the tension mounts you really fear for him, root for him and feel his frustration, hurt and anger as things progress. His brother Steve is also great as the edgy and unhinged killer. Also crammed in there are 2 films within the film that the kids watch on video; first a deliberately corny pastiche of Creature From The Black Lagoon, the second a harrowing video nasty gorefest. Over all the atmosphere is low key with a natural feel to it which is why I rate it so highly. If you want slick Hollywood formulaic action you will not find it here, what you find here is heartfelt genuinely hard work to make a film really well. One of my favourites this year. Similar films to this one's quality might be Lightning Bug or Undertow (with Jamie Bell). Contains some disturbing and gory scenes.

I loved it, even though the UK edition is cut by over 90 seconds. Everything positive and negative said about this film is true really but the negatives did not matter to me, I was engrossed. It's made on a micro budget by non professionals and as such they did a damn fine job and I respect it. Having seen both versions (UK version first) I can say the cuts do not harm the film they just make one scene less intense and another less pornographic. You do get behind the scenes documentaries which are not on the USA disk and it really shows the effort that they put into getting the film made and you see them winning awards as a result. More of an art film than you would expect but yes, the amateur element does crack through occasionally.

Found was quite a disturbing and well made low budget drama horror film. The film in a way reminded me of Frailty but done in a realistic way, Found to me was a very edgy and viscerally jarring film that was thinking very much outside the box compared to most movies about young psycho killers. Even though most of it plays like a drama it definitely is a horror film, just a more low-key different approach to one, and one that's certainly not for everybody, particularly those of a weak stomach or who are easily offended. I found its overall atmosphere and tone to be very saddening and morbid, there were no jump scares or schlocky humorous horror gags, it's all very subtle and even ordinary, and to me all the more haunting in its everyday blandness than if they'd gone the typical route of trying to be scary in the more conventional way. I enjoyed how it seemed to be set in the late 80s/early 90s.

The film’s opening scene is as disturbing as they come, and compounded by Marty’s young age. Some bowling ball bags should never be opened (especially ones with decapitated heads). What could easily be a coming of age tale about a kind, bullied kid, morphed into something much darker. Found does stand out from many other independent horrors due to its realistic nature, shattering atmosphere and eerily well done gore effects. Based on the novel by Todd Rigney, the film is about a bullied fifth grader named, Marty, and his seriously messed up childhood. Marty (Gavin Brown) is a shy kid with a passion for creating his own comic books. Marty is also obsessed with horror films and loves to spend time pouring through the movies at his local video store. His Dad is a racist, overbearing male archetype; his mother, a loving, nurturing woman.

After just watching this brilliant movie I've had to come and express how much I enjoyed it, very rarely does a film come around that makes you love film again, but this one does ignore everything bad you've heard, by watching this even though, yes it is low budget but that doesn't matter it's been made with a love and a passion for movie making, it won't be everybody's cup of tea there isn't any happy endings here, instead were fed a basket full of in your face realism rarely seen in film today, do you think I love this movie (well just abit) but it'll be our secret. The story follows Marty a young adolescent boy who on the outside does good at school, goes to church and genuinely does what he's told, but on the inside Marty is hurting he's being bullied at school and his home life isn't all it's cracked up to be, but Marty has a secret he keeps to himself untill one night, Marty has discovered his brother's grisly secret he keeps a head in a bowling bag in his closet and Marty even though at first is disgusted by it finds it intriguing and can't help but look each day and each day their is a new head to view, yes Martys brother is a serial killer. I won't spoil it for you guys by going inot every detail of the story but gradually life deteriorates for Marty until everything spirals out of control into a extremely shocking climax. Found is a gem of a movie that has impact apon the viewer I really enjoyed it, in fact I was glued, trust me watch this film it's bloody brilliant!
