I bought this film on blu-ray having had it on DVD for a number of years and it was worth it. The film is good and sharp, the sound is ok (not a lot coming through the back speakers on 5.1). There are also some special features that weren't on my DVD copy. So, a recommended upgrade from the DVD.

This film as been a constant companion of mine since I first saw it some 40 years ago ( in my 50's now ) I consider this to be my all time favourite movie on many levels, but the thing is the older I get the more I get from it!

At first it was the car and the chase, then it was the widescreen and the cinematography! Then the dialogue had an effect! But at the centre of the movie is the car itself, it's Dreamliner like shape the POV from the driver window and how the camera seems to be close to the ground and the crisscross tread marks as the challenger leaves it's impression on a sun baked desert! ( I digress ).

This time in this steel book presentation the film is presented in a all new print and special features featuring Barry Newman himself!

A look at the challenger and a commentary by Richard C. Sarafian. The print itself is the best I've seen ( although some times grainy ) the blu ray does it justice!

It is presented here in my preferred version of just 98 minutes. There are discs out there with the 105 minute version which is great to have but I think it takes the film off pace ( the night time sequence with Charlotte Rampling doesn't seem to fit although it seems angelic in it's tone and perhaps a suggestion of an afterlife, albeit drug induced bring's perhaps an understanding of why Kowalski is smiling at the end of the film? )

I love this film and I've seen many! This is the best of them!

It's Vanishing point, on DVD and in a collectable box. Only thing that could have improved it is if it had the extra scenes from the UK version of the film with the hitchhiker as an optional extra. I have been a fan of this film for about 30 years, and to be honest only discovered the additional scenes earlier this year - buy a Region 1 copy of the DVD and find out what you have been missing - some say it distracts from the film, but forget the humans - you get to see the challenger in the dark.

I had really built this film up in my own memory. When I finally got to see it again after many years, it just didnt live up to expectations. I appreciated it more for the nostalgia value, than the actual content of the film. I even had visions in my memory of this car screaming flat out across vast empty highways through the desert, but these scenes never really materialised.

Simply amazing edition. Not just it is delivered in steel... I am talking about professional way how it is made. You can find there well made menu, bonuses (also subtitled and in HD!) and of course main move in great quality with tons of subtitles or eve audio available. I am really happy.
