Deciding to leave town and head to Niagara Falls, Tammy, who is in need of money and a vehicle for the trip, has no choice but to bring along her grandmother Pearl (Sarandon). As their journey progresses it becomes clear that Pearl is an alcoholic and while trying to look after her, Tammy gets involved in various misadventures including the robbery of a Toppy Jacks. The film also stars Kathy Bates, Dan Aykroyd and Allison Janney.

I purchased this in my local asda. Watched twice over the weekend with my partner. Very funny. Great cast. And has a sweet & endearing theme. Am glad tammy is slightly diff from melissas previous characters. Worth buying for fans of the cast.

This film wasn't that great at all really! Such a shame as I thought Melissa McCarthy was great in the heat and identity thief. This film was a bit nothingness, the character Tammy was very irritating and annoying, not funny.

No Spoilers. Oh boy did this suck. So Melissa McCarthy plays Tammy, an aggressive, stupid, no self respect for herself character who after a bad day decides to run away on a road trip with her kooky but also aggressive, mean, cruel, manipulative grandmother played by Susan Sarandon, what are meant to be shenanigans ensue but in fact it’s a really bleak and cold, pretentious indie road movie. All those descriptions aren’t my opinion, the movie goes out of its way to show you multiple times how unlikeable and devoid of self respect these characters are. This is made twice as worse by the trailer which was simply one scene of Tammy robbing a fast food place with slapstick but that scene is not representative of the whole movie at all. Let me put it this way: Tammy cries 6 or 7 times in this movie and it’s not meant to be funny, she’s meant to be emotionally hurt and troubled and it’s far too serious and dark for this film especially when it won’t explore her past. Sarandon has the more fun role, the rest of the cast who are all big names are minor insignificant characters who could have been played by anyone just as easily. I know what they were going for as it has a lot of indie road movie stereotypes in their but ooooft do they miss the mark. There are some funny lines and they are all great actors (and the soundtrack is really good, i’ll give them that) but It doesn’t work at all. AVOID, don’t even watch on TV.

Terrible film. Poor story, cheesy and only one funny bit springs to mind.

It's seriously retarded and as for the anti Obama's Health program...she's obviously hit and miss, I liked her in Heat, better than Bullock but in this, it's just too awful for words!

Enjoyable film, was originally put off it by the negative reviews, but it was a good film to watch, comedy and a bit of drama to make you go awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Melissa McCarthy is very good as Tammy. The only thing i thought wrong was the casting, Susan Sarandon as her grandmother???!!!! Her screen mother Alison Janney is only 10 years younger than Susan Sarandon - the film would have been better leaving the mother character out of it, and making Miss Sarandon' character that part! Also Toni Collette is wasted in the film!

The scenes with Melissa McCarthy at the Burger restaurant are very funny - she is certainly hot property in the comedy market! Susan sarandon does a good turn as a grannie with attitude and a drink problem.

Give the film a go, its a good story and you do warm to the character of Tammy.

Well what can I say, I really like Melissa M, she is really funny in most films I've seen her in. This one, not so. The only funny part is at the beginning when she loses her job in the fast food joint. That's it! The rest of the film was not funny in my opinion. It was slow and I could not really sympathise with her or any of the other characters in the film. Don't know why it's called a comedy I'd say it's more of a drama? If you could even call it that! I was expecting it to be like Identity Thief, that really IS funny but it's not anywhere as good or funny as that. I found myself nodding off and I never do that, but that's how slow and boring I thought it was. If I never saw this nonsense again, it wouldn't leave a gap in my life. Don't bother.
