this along with First class shows what the x-men films are capable of. the cast of the X-men films have never been bad, but the plot used before have ruined it for me as characters are killed that are not suppose to (spoiler alert) this films thankfully undoes all of this and repairs the x-men universe. the plot is based on one of the original X-men comics and I think one of the best.

The films cast are brilliant making young Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Prof X (James McAvoy) meet Magneto (Ian Mckellen) and Prof X (Patrick Stewart) senior. The acting by both of them is brilliant as well as other cast members, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Peter Dinklage and Nicholas Hoult.

the effects are very good, and are necessary for the film to work, as it would do no good for wolverine to be missing his claws.

if you are planing on watching this film wait until the end of the credits as this will show you the short clip, which will lay the foundations for X-men apocalypse, set to be released (2016).

The latest addition to the x-men series works well, using many of the original cast with those introduced in X-Men First Class. And it it does it very well. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan, with their stage and theatre backgrounds set the bar very high when the first film came out in 2000. Bringing them back through the use of time travel and the sentinels story makes for a terrifically entertaining film. There is also a lovely little (excuse pun) role for Peter Dinklage, and a couple of great set pieces which make great use of modern special effects wizardry.

The extras on the bluray are sadly pretty limited, and only include deleted scenes, a few short (5-10 mins) documentaries and trailers. There is no directors commentary, which is a shame as I have a feeling that director Bryan Singer would be very interesting to listen to.
