HASH(0x91adefd8) out of 5 stars Exceeded expectations, no pun intended 31 May 2013
By Albert Chen - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
[2013 compilation full album, 14 tracks (1 intro, 6 new, 5 rerelease, 2 inst)]

INTRO
Released on Korea's White Day, Girl's Day keeps their new style rolling, which they started last year with "Don't Forget Me". Gone is any silliness that might have plagued them before, now replaced with all energy and emotion a la "Nothing Lasts Forever". The music may feel different than what you're used to, but by no means is the new electronica/dance pop lacking.

CD BREAKDOWN
Aside from the ballad tracks, all of the new pop tracks carry a much more `90s electronica style, with good bass and a sufficient dosing of synth sounds. The intro track "Girl's Day World" is a prime example of this - it's just begging for you to turn up the bass. The title track "Expectation" keeps the trend going: there's a little bit of synthesized voice throughout (but not excessive autotune), and the in-your-face dance-pop background goes hand-in-hand with the constant `ooh ooh-ohh ooh' that prolongs the song's sense of longing. The CD alternates with "I Don't Mind" next, a modern ballad with a pop beat similar to "Young Love" from `Everyday 1'. The electronica-pop returns with "Easy Go", which bears much similarity to "Expectation", though a little less intense and heavy. "Don't Trust Her" follows and, like "Easy Go", keeps up the upbeat `90s pop sound but continues the CD's progression of a brighter and cheerier image. Track 6, "White Day", is the album's 2nd title track, released previously in February. Like "I Don't Mind", it's a pop ballad with pleasant singing and provides a respite from the rest of the fast paced album. The CD effectively concludes with "Oh no", which is almost completely electronica/dance with the highest tempo of all the tracks. It's fun sounding and bordering on a little silly in a few places but I still like it because of its departure from the `90s theme.

CONCEPT
In the music video, I believe they were trying to go for `sexy' or `mature' but it's more like a mix of goth/club with revealing black PVC outfits, whitened face makeup, heavy eyeliner and bright pink lipstick (not that I mind and I don't think most guys will).

CONCLUSION
Business-wise, I think DreamTea picked up on the success of DFM and kept rolling the ball in that direction with `Expectation', and I approve of it and the `90s sound (some of us are old you know). As a CD, it's a steal - you get their old hits, instrumental tracks, and of course an album's worth of new songs.

--EDIT 2013/3/20--
Now that I have the CD, I'd say DreamTea did a pretty good job on packaging. The CD is on the inside back cover of a 7" x 9.5" (17.8cm x 24.1cm) photobook - a photobook full of pretty Korean girls. While the MV concept was dark and edgy, the primary concept in the CD also echoes the club vibe but is much brighter, with the girls in attractive single-color dresses. There are 2 solo pictures of each member, followed by a group picture, lyrics, and more shots of the girls in their club attire. The photobook finishes with a tan-hued secondary concept showing the girls in older, classic-looking dresses and blouses. My only complaint is that there weren't more pictures ;D

HASH(0x91adeec4) out of 5 stars Great Album 1 Jun. 2013
By Beau Norton - Published on Amazon.com

I just recently discovered Girl's Day and bought this album to see if I would like more than the songs Don't Forget Me and Expectation which were the only two I knew. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked all of the songs and can listen to the whole album without skipping a track. The book the Cd comes in is also fantastic and full of great pictures of all four beautiful girls. I had stopped buying CDs years ago and just downloaded songs off I-tunes or amazon, but my discovery of K-pop and the tremendous amount of effort they put into making the packaging of their CDs has re-awakened my love of physically owning Albums. Awesome music, gorgeous pictures, everything was excellent, if you are at all interested in this and read this review in my opinion it is a must buy!

This is Girl's Days first full length album ^^ it has some of their old songs and some new ones including their hit Expectation which was the song that got me into Girl's Day. It is like a book, hard cover with photo pages, and has the CD at the end.
