If you're looking for a Blu-ray copy of the original Japanese version of the film, this is for you.

The subtitles are great and reflect the Japanese dialogue, even using the Japanese versions of the characters names (M.Bison is Vega, Vega is Balrog, etc) and the video quality is excellent, no upscaling or trickery here.

Personally, for me this ticks all the boxes as I grew up with the Japanese version of this on a VHS tape, and always found the USA dub of the movie to be a little out of place with all the music they added to it, it does change the movie a lot.

However, I know this is not the case for everyone, and I will agree with the other reviewers, the dubbed audio version is incomplete and by no means "uncensored", this is not a perfect release if you like this version.

Let me say straight off the bat, the remastered transfer for this film is probably the best we've ever seen or probably ever will see. It's very clear with good depth and colour. That's the positive bit out of the way...

The audio side of this release has been a complete disaster. I can't express enough how much this disappoints me that in 2013 we still can't get a 100% satisfactory release of this film. The cover claims that the film is uncensored, which as far as what you see on screen is true I suppose. However, every single instance of swearing in the film has been removed. For someone who hasn't seen the film before this might not grate so much but for someone who remembers a lot of the lines this sticks out like a sore thumb and was extremely jarring whilst watching, leaving me wondering... Why? It still has a BBFC 15 age rating and still contains all the blood, violence and nudity from before, so why remove the swearing?

The worst part about this bizarre censoring is the effect it's had on the movies soundtrack. This can be seen most obtrusively in the Chun Li vs. Vega fight scene. Originally the KMFDM song would play continuously from beginning to end, however because of the constant cutting of frames the soundtrack becomes very choppy, going from mid-verse to chorus, then mid-chorus to another part of the song and making the whole edit sound very amateur.

I also have to comment on the fact both the English and Japanese dubs on this disc are presented in 2ch Stereo, where the previous DVD release from 2006 contained 5.1 surround mixes for both. How is it that in 2013 with a 25-50GB Blu-Ray disc they couldn't have put on the HD 5.1 tracks for both?

This release is both a triumph and a shame.

Picture quality is the best yet seen with a great transfer and great colours. Unfortunately there is no 5.1 track, and the English dub is the PG-13 version with no swearing- which sadly impacts the music and some scenes where to remove the swearing, they've awkwardly edited the movie.

Worth buying, but still not a definitive version.

Awesome remastered on Blu-Ray street fighter 2, still great manga after all these years and uncut. In the near future, there is a spate of political assassinations . These attacks are a part of a Mega villain plan devised by M.Bison, the leader of the world's biggest syndicate Shadow law. His goal is to find & capture the greatest martial artist around the world, in order to turn them into brain washed killing machines. With an army of invincible warriors, nothing can prevent his world conquest! However four of the world's best fighters will stand in his way. Ryu, Ken Masters, Guile, Chun-Li. The way manga should look, not like this wussy Naruto crap!

Your mileage may vary as to how acceptable you find the fact that the original audio has been clumsily edited to remove the original expletives.

With a release such as this though the target audience will be those who have fond memories and nostalgia for the film from their youth. Upon finding the the original audio butchered you are unlikely to be impressed and for me this makes it impossible to recommend.

Doesn't come with the original dubbing, which for those like myself who grew up with the film when it was on VHS and remembers all them amazing one liners, it'll take away a lot of the enjoyment. Uncencsored for the Chun Li shower scene but censored for the dubbing.

Okay, first of all, nothing has been upscaled here, as 'Martland' as so expertly assumed.

SFII was animated on film, which has a resolution beyond 1080p. So, this is a proper HD release and it looks great.

However, fans of Manga's infamous English dub will be fuming, as although the violence and Chun-Li's chesticles are 100% uncut, all instances of swearing have been removed, as well as things's like Vega saying 'Sweet',as he licks Chun-Li's blood off of his claws, during their fight. This causes inconsistencies in the music, due to clumsy editing.

The subtitles reflect the Japanese audio track, they are NOT dubtitles. The Japanese score is terrible though, IMO.

How do I know this, when the disc isn't out in the UK,yet? Simple, I had the French KAZE import, which this UK disc will be a direct clone of.

This film appears to be destined, never to have a perfect home video release.
