This production combines grindhouse with "Twilight" style vampires and doesn't do either one well. The film opens up in Ludlow, England as Francis (Cory Knauf) is looking for distant relatives and provides the far too used first person narration. The scene flashes back to the US then takes us back to England for no other reason then to try to look clever.

Francis is a vampire-type person. He and his family are on the lam after going berserk in a desert diner, caught on film. The youngest brother Lenny (Ryan Hartwig) got shot in the chest. Exactly how this family who lived isolated, wanted by the law, dragging along a bloody kid with a shotgun wound to the chest, gets overseas (I don't think they had passports either) is a plot point not mentioned. They are seeking help, as their parents are dead and they don't know how to cope with this genetic vampire issue they lived with their whole life.

The family splits up and Francis goes to Ludlow looking for answers not realizing predators don't like their territory to be overcrowded with rival predators.

The film has its grindhouse moments, but then dies. As a "Twilight" type film, the writing was simply too bad. While I liked the basic plot outline, the details and execution lacked forethought and planning. It appears they slapped something together knowing the public will buy it depending on how they sell it, such as placing "Twilight" and Tarantino's name on the jacket. It is not that good. For what it's worth: Elizabeth Henstridge can act better than frequent Razzy nominee Kristen Stewart.

Parental guidance: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Katarina Gellin, Zoe Grisedale, Elizabeth Henstridge or body double) Three stars is a stretch.

I really enjoyed this modern vampire tale and sequel to The Hamiltons. It's a film which can stand alone though as you don't need to have seen the first film as there is plenty of explanation of the backstory to how our vampiric anti hero family manage end up in lovely old Ludlow looking for kindred spirits. A nice antidote to the twee rubbish of the twighlight saga and a proper vampire film to show the kids if they think K-stew and R-patz are the bees knees (actually if they think that, just beat them instead) - REVIEW UPDATE - I see someone gave my review a thumbs down but made no comment, I'm guessing someone didn't like my comments regarding the execrable twighlight saga. If my "beat your kids if they like twighlight" comment upset you, then that's awesome. It's a pity that Amazon don't sell a sense of humour, you could have added one to your wishlist.

it was ok but nothing special as Vampire movies go, wouldn't bother watching but it was cheap and past the time.

This is the sequel to 'The Hamiltons' a story about a dysfunctional American family who drink blood. Expanding on the vampire myth these are vamps that are born, can die and can also go out in the sunlight. The end of the first film sees them going on the run after fouling their own nest and this film picks up with them relocated to England under a new name looking for sanctuary.
Francis is despatched to a small village called Ludlow where he has been told he will find folk sympathetic to his family's dilemna but finds instead that all is not as it seems in the shires (I blame Jilly Cooper myself).
This isn't a bad vampire film and is a definite improvement over the first in terms of picture quality and production values. The same cast play the Hamiltons/Thompsons and relative newcomer Elizabeth Henstridge is a welcome addition as the local talent.
Do try to buy it at the best price possible because its not a gem although it is a welcome addition to the genre.
