After spectacularly taking out a dam, the rebels become public enemy No.1 for El Presidente, relentlessly pursued through the jungle by Colonel Silvera played by Kinski at his swivel-eyed best in an 80s low action classic that gives you exactly what you want, big guns, big explosions and glorious, beautiful, mindless destruction.

Now, find out why the Italian s ruled the 80s video store in this rental classic from the golden era of Euro-action trash...

I was surprised and delighted when I saw this film available on DVD. It is a truly great action film, non-stop from start to finish. Carrasco (Lewis Collins) leads a band of revolutionaries against a corrupt government in Latin American, fighting against Silvero (Klaus Kinski)and his army. The storyline is a little weak in places, but the score and action make up for it. There is also a good supporting cast performances from Manfred Lehman and Cristina Donadio. However the special features on this DVD are terrible, there is a mashed together 'Making of' documentary with is in part english and german and repeats the same footage over again.

I Saw this on Amazon and I was fascinated because it was an action film with Lewis Collins in it. I have just got into The Proffessionals so I bought it. Well I was a little disappointed, the script is weak in places and everything progresses in a by-the numbers fashion. But Collins makes a solid hero (He would have made a good 007 but he turned the part down) and Kinski is a great Villain. At 15 million Swiss Franks it wasn't a cheap film, the gunfights and stunts are all top knotch but the script is sub-standard. Really this is a film for Collins fans, I don't no who else it would appeal to.

Collins gives us a an engaging hero and Kinsky performs at his wide eyed scene chewing best. In terms of cinematography, I thought that the model work looked great, the dam busting sequence was ok and the aeroplane explosion was as good as any other I've seen. The basic plot about an educated man returning home to become a freedom fighter is interesting enough and is complimented by some large scale action set pieces. I watched this in full knowlege that it's a low budget, Italian made, mercenary movie and with my expectations duly managed, I found it easy to appreciate the movies subtle charms.

Too bad Lewis Collins was typecasted into these kinds of films, but this one is something I can tolerate watching again also. Lots of explosions and fire and some nice action, but also a bit of drama, making an entertaining package.

He had the cheek and prowess to play Bond from '80 to '89. It was all too safe with the other guys. He would have been the Daniel Craig of the 80's. Someone who looked like he could really handle himself.

Lewis did not turn down the bond role, he didn't get it because they thought he was too aggressive.
