Product Description

Danny Trejo stars as an outlaw gunning for revenge in this action Western from director Roel Reiné. Guerrero Hernandez (Trejo), head of the Blackwater Gang, decides to ransack the mining town of Edendale along with his half-brother Red (Anthony Michael Hall), who he's just sprung from jail. But when he's subsequently mown down by his double-crossing sibling and the rest of his gang, Guerrero, after making a deal with the devil (Mickey Rourke), returns to the aptly renamed town of Tombstone to exact bloody revenge on his former partners.

The film opens with a grindhouse rescue of a member of the Blackwater Gang about to be hung. The gang members are introduced by a decent western/bayou soundtrack (Hybrid)using wanted posters. The gang opts to rob a Colorado mining town of its disputed gold, except Red (Anthony Michael Hall) has plans of taking over the town instead of fleeing to the dismay of his half brother Guerrero (Danny Trejo) who soon becomes Swiss Cheese.

Like so many Trejo films, he dies early on, except in this one he is still in the film as he works out a deal with the devil (Mickey Rourke) to return and kill the six gang members in 24 hours. This is something he could have done in the first 10 minutes, but that wouldn't make for the last second drama. Calathea (Dina Meyer) whose husband was killed by the gang plays a wildcard in this as the deal includes Trejo killing the men by his own hand.

Great film for Trejo fans as he returns to his grindhouse roots.

Parental Guide (unrated version): F-bomb, saloon girl nudity, no sex.

`Dead in Tombstone' is about an outlaw, Danny Trejo, who gets doublecrossed by his gang and murdered, only to find himself out of the frying pan and into the fiery depths of hell himself. However, not wanting to spend the rest of eternity having his skin ripped off by the devil (aka Mickey Rourke), he makes a bargain to deliver the souls of the gang who murdered him. Not wanting to get into the reason why the devil agrees to this (baring in mind he's immortal and therefore could simply choose to wait until the gang dies before collecting their souls that way). But, anyway, the devil grants Trejo a day to shoot them all dead and deliver their souls.

If you've seen the advertising, you may notice that Mickey Rourke - naturally - second billing, suggesting he's in it equally as much as Danny Trejo. However, he is sadly very underused. Fans of his may need to know he's not in it as much as the advertising may suggest he is.

There's no shortage of action in the film, all of which is surprisingly stylishly directed. However, the uber-quick editing may annoy some people after the millionth cut. It's basically a revenge-western with a small helping of supernatural added into it when the plot requires as such. There may not be a `romance element' to the film, but that doesn't stop Dina Meyer getting herself kidnapped every chance she gets.

It's not a bad film. Everything is okay and yet never seems to spill over to either `really good' or `really bad.' It could well be the most `on the fence' movie ever made. If you like Danny Trejo, you should enjoy this, however, like I say, Mickey Rouke fans may be left-short-changed.

After a raid by the 'Blackwater gang' in 'Edendale' (soon to be re-named 'Tombstone')
the gang turn on their leader, 'Guerrero Hernandez' (Danny Trejo) led by his half-
brother 'Red' (Anthony Michael Hall) literally sending him to 'Hell'
'Satan' (Mickey Rourke) awaited his arrival, 'Guerrero' try's to make a deal with the
Devil, in return for his life he will deliver the six traitors that had betrayed him.
Six for the price of one sounds a good deal for the 'soul' hungry 'Satan' so 'Guerrero'
is given just 24 hours to deliver, fail, and he returns to 'Hell'
Now 'Hell' is about to descend upon the streets of 'Tombstone' where brother 'Red' has
taken over the town and it's gold-mines.
Will justice be served, 24 hours really isn't a lot of time to save ones sole.
There are some priceless one-liners throughout this explosive, bullet flying action-packed
Western.
This O.T.T movie is certainly an entertaining watch......give it a spin.
Good Picture and Sound Quality throughout.
Footnote - 'Tombstone' itself was created because of the precious metal mining, however
in truth the metal they mined was 'Silver' (not that it really matters in this fantasy Western)
Features -
(Worth watching by the way)
* Deleted Scenes.
* The making of 'Dead in Tombstone'
* Horse, Guns and Explosives.
* 'Roel Rein'e' - Leader of the Gang.
* A Town Transformed.

Starring Trejo and Rourke - 2 cool actors - this tale of an outlaw making a pact with the prince of darkness in order to reap bloody revenge on his own gang for murdering him, should have been superb. As it is, it's alright but really could've benefited from having a few more quid spent on it. The action scenes play well and there's some good stunts but on the whole it feels like a straight-to-dvd affair or even a TV movie. There's a fair bit of pointless slo-mo too - if you don't mind that kind of thing. The 3rd principle actor is Anthony Michael Hall ( you know - that fella from the 80s in films like National Lampoons Vacation and Wierd Science) who is competent in his part as the chief villain, but comes across more like he's acting on stage. It's ok though and the support cast just about cut it. That said, I hope Trejo and especially Rourke get some really top-notch roles come their way cos they're both very watchable actors.
