    INTRODUCTION
The Dead Island: Riptide storyline continues where Dead Island left off. If you have not played Dead Island 1 yet then I suggest you do before continuing to read this.
Anyway, basically at the end of Dead Island 1 you and other survivors are rescued in the helicopter and are taken to an air craft carrier off the coast. All is thought to be safe, but then a massive monsoon comes and yet again causes havoc. The survivors get swept onto a new island called Palani, however it is still in the Banoi Archipelago.

    LIMITED EDITION STEELBOOK:
The limited edition steel book is smart and looks good for any fan. For only a bit more money you can get this over the common plastic box which I think is really worth it!

    WHAT'S NEW:
In Dead Island: Riptide there are some nice new features to the game.
    - New Character: There is now a new playable character called 'John Morgan' who is Australian.
    - New Vehicle: You can now drive boats which Dead Island 1 lacked.
    - New Skills: New skills have been added to the game for you to develop.
    - New Zombies: New types of zombies have been added as well as most of the original ones.
    - New Locations: You can now visit new places on the island such as 'Henderson'.
    - New Multiplayer and Communications function.

    GRAPHICS
The graphics are fairly similar overall to Dead Island, some people may think this is a bad thing, some may think it's a good thing. Personally I feel it's a good thing because after all you are still continuing with the same story, it would feel a bit odd if the graphics totally changed half way through.

    GAMEPLAY
The gameplay has had some improved features.

Brilliant game, completed the story on co-op with my friend.
    > Importing your character from DI is great at the beginning as the skills you have will assist you whilst you get used to the new scenery, enemies and weapons.
    > Firearms have been made more realistic and as a result a shot to the head is likely to kill any zombies first time.
    > New weapons makes the game so much more enjoyable and gives you a few laughs along the way. For example, my personal favourite the harpoon which when hitting zombies such as walkers and infected it will knock them of their feet. Also, if you hit a zombie and it's by a wall or a tree, you can pin the zombie against the object with the harpoon. Another favourite is they have now introduced snipers that have a lot of power and will serve you well if you prefer to pick them off rather than storming in with a melee weapon. The firearms come in to their own when used with the character "Purna" as she is the firearms specialist.
    > If the DI story left you confused or if you feel it didn't explain itself enough then Riptide will help as it explains the DI story and then expands upon it.
    > The game is left wide open at the end, suggesting that the franchise will continue in a few years.
Overall I think this is a brilliant game and although I have completed it, I can still have hours of fun with my friends killing zombies and completing side quests. If you're 50-50 on buying this game, I would highly recommend it.

Dead Island:Riptide is a continuation of first game. The story picks up when the helicopter lands on a ship off-shore of Banoi.

You can continue with your DI character if you have one. The game will import level and skill points, but not anything you were carrying.New characters will start at level 15 and have 14 skill points.Three templates are given, or you can custom spend you skills. Some new skills have been added, particularly one that makes running through crowds easier, otherwise it's a carry over from DI.
The game also introduces a new character who seems ideal for first time players. He has health/stamina boosts and vampiric regeneration on crits. His fury skill also heals when it ends. He fits the role of hand to hand fighter and shares some skills with Xian Mei.

Purna is probably a little overpowered in this one. In DI ammo was scarce and guns were only found in certain areas. Almost from the start you get access to fire arms and the first hub vendor sells ammo.

The survivours are more of a feature in Riptide.Helping them out makes it easier to fend off attacks on your hub (another new feature). You can also do quests for any characters not being played. This gives a really nice feel as you watch your makeshift base turn into an impregnable (well maybe not...) fortress complete with chain guns, mine fields and electrified fences.

Weapons have been split making it easier to buy a weapon you can use. Each type has its own vendor and there are a lot less "trash" weapons. They are also a good bit more durable, meaning less trips to the workbench.

In all, how you react to Riptide will very much depend on how much you liked the original. For those who hated it? Well there is nothing that will really change you mind.

This game carries on from number 1 and is as good if not better. The steel case is good but The game and manual come in a normal case so you have both cases for the one game which is strange. Overall really impressed and can't wait to complete it.
