Product Description

This is an Irish, coming of age, black comedy starring the highly acclaimed Domhnall Gleeson (True Grit, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and soon to be seen Shadow Dancer). When an Irish farmer dies, his sole heir Donal (Gleeson, True Grit, Harry Potter) is left some land; but Donal hasn t inherited much in terms of social skills. Despite the encouragement of his best mate Karl, he finds it hard to talk to women, and in frustration turns to the internet. He hooks up with Kiwi call-girl Kim (Gordon, Shameless), who has a business plan that would see her off her back and behind a desk, greeting punters at her own brothel. Donal s newfound means might provide her with the money she needs, but what might Donal be getting out of the deal? And what demand is there for the services of prostitutes in rural Ireland anyway?

A lonley farmer decides to hook up with call girl kim as the to become closer they end up with a bussiness plan their own brothel. The famer Donal played by talented Domhnall Glesson has the money so the bussiness can happen but with heartbreak and tears and you have a idea how it will end. The film is okay i don't think i'll be watching it again through it just wasnt for me.

Sensation is a dark comedy whose best quality is that it isn’t watered down: it’s harsh, hard and ugly enough to keep things interesting and make them seem real. Moreover, it offers some very entertaining bits of Irish humor that I loved. Actually, the film is overall very well written and offers a refreshing commentary on Irish culture, the economic crisis and male/female relationships. It’s not as entertaining or accomplished as In Bruges, but I really liked seeing another well made dark Irish comedy and an honest film. What I enjoyed most was Domhnall Gleeson’s great performance, he’s not supposed to be a likeable character but you end up rooting for him anyway! If you’re in the mood for a good dark comedy, an offbeat story or just some Irish grim charm, try this one!

Behind the scenes of common people in Ireland, or anywhere for that matter, and giving it their best shot at living like people that are better off do. You look at the circumstances portrayed here and can not deny that this is a realistic look at humanity when people are scraping by.

That said, the acting and the premise and the plot are all very good. If you get past the culture shock and just watch the movie it is entertaining. The guy Donal is humorous with his naivette, Kim keeps her personal defeats in life buried and has a plan. She can't be kicked for being motivated to take an opportunity to succeed when she seemingly has no other options considering the cards life has dealt her. And, exposing best friends that are about as valuable as enemies, etc., etc.

The ending gives you a warm feeling about the real nature of most people. And that definitely pulls the story together, a resolution that makes watching the movie worthwhile.
