Just wanted to point out the features of the blu-ray editions rather than the films themselves so here goes:

The picture quality of these films are noticeably stronger than the dvd's but aren't exactly reference quality. However it's difficult to imagine how the films could ever look better. They could have been worse. For the cheap price I was expecting a poor transfer but was pleasantly surprised.

Each film comes in it's own standard sized blu-ray case housed in a outer box. Artworks looks a little plain really but isn't important.

There are a few extras presented on each disc too such as deleted scenes, outtakes, a look at the next installment and digital copies & although there is no mention on the cases or disc each film has it's unrated edition but NOT the theatrical/edited version.

I was a bit concerned having read the reviews that the picture quality would be sub par, no better than the DVD's. But at less than 5 pounds each I thought I'd take a punt. Rest assured the films have never looked better. The colours pop nicely throughout, and close ups reveal pores and spots! Yes, they were so young back then...

The transfers are a little inconsistent, one minute slightly grainy, the next waxy - too much DNR. But I'll say it again, this is a huge improvement over the DVD's. In my opinion the picture quality is good verging on very good (at points.) The box set is nice, three separate slip cases and quite a few extras. This loses a star because the three hour and a half documentary (on the US release) is missing. I can see no reason for this.

Btw, all three films are the unrated versions. Worth the upgrade? At this price, without a doubt.

EDIT: my Panasonic player needed a firmware update to play these films.

Have had these as Videos and DVD's and thought that it was worth replacing with the Blu-ray version as they are such great films. If they are your type of humour, then they are timeless and can be watched over and over again. Unlike the forerunner 'Porkies' where the first film was excellent and the next two just went downhill, this franchise continued to be absolutely brilliant with great writting, wonderfully believable performances from Biggs and co. and some real cringeworthy situations that Jim finds himself in. The follow ons, without the original cast, were really not good, but they all returned in 're-uninion' and again produced an excellent film, great to see the gang back together.

The quality of this transfer to Blu-Ray was bad. I think we would have been as well off with the DVD versions. At one point I actually popped the disk out of the player to check if it was actually a DVD by mistake.

In fairness though, this is hardly an epic, so maybe this isn't such a big deal. For a bit of undemanding American rubbish, even at this quality, £10 was probably a fair price.

I used to watch these all the time on dvd (very poor quality), but when I saw the bluray boxset I had to have it for xmas. The quality is superb, the laughs are hillarious, and I just love these films. Great boxset and well presented. 10out of 10.
