Their back with a vengeance! Roundhead (Eric Tsang), Stanley Fung (Now renamed Rawhide), Sandy (Richard Ng), Herb is now only given a cameo role in the movie, letting his on screen brother take his place, named 'Kevin' (Pronounced: New Q Y). Also including Muscles (Jackie Chan), Ricky (Yuen Biao), Now named 'Fast Buck' (Sammo Hung). Also Andy Lau gets his role as the third partner to Biao and Chan.

I waited for this DVD for a while now. Know that Hong Kong Legends were releasing it I was instantly excited, with my love of the first movie. Yet I feel a little let down. Not by the movie, no no no. But the English dubbing of the movie. I was rather confused with the change of English Dubbed voices and some of the characters names, for example Kidstuff being changed to Fast Buck and Stanley being changed Rawhide.
Back to the film, the film begins with the LS waking up in their small home showing Fast Buck and Roundhead sharing a room together and then Sandy accidentally using Fast bucks closet as a toilet, a very amusing start to the film. In this film Herbert is only in it for a little time, but is replaced by his brother, Kevin. The film is its usual mix of slapstick comedy and every one trying to get the girl. Like the last film both Yuen Biao and Jackie Chan. But with Andy Lau this time, Chan spends most of his screen time with Andy Lau, where as Yuen Biao spends his time with 'Barbara' (played by Sibelle Ho, from My Lucky Stars).
Quite noticeably is the Three Stoodges comedy. With short slap, hit, eye poking sequence between Rawhide, Roundhead and Sandy. Yet I was confused with the sudden change in character for Rawhide. For example when he is playing Chess with Kevin and looses.

Overall, this is much more of a comedy movie than an action, although it does have some good action scenes. It's not the normal kind of comedy that you see in Jackie Chan movies. Normally he relies on visual gags and slapstick, much more of the humour here is setups like skits/sketches. I did laugh at quite a few of the jokes, although some either didn't translate very well, or were not to my taste, or were overly long. The fighting at the end with Sammo Hung, Richard Norton, and Yuen Biao is very good, Jackie doesn't really do as much as usual due to an injury he sustained doing another movie.

I got the cine-asia re-release of the hong kong legends, and I cannot fault them at all. The picture and sound were good, the commentary was interesting, and it had a couple of OK extras.

"Twinkle Twinkle" is a bit like cold pizza - not that appetising but there are a few bits on there that are so tasty, you just have to sample them! I'll explain: In effect, this is a comedy with martial arts, not a martial arts film with comedy and unfortunatley much of the comedy is over-long and dare I say, childish. Being translated and dubbed into another language probably hasn't helped. Comedy requires a great deal of skill to pull off and it must be difficult to do dub-overs and keep the same timing etc.

On the other hand, the various fight action that occurs is truly top notch and a masterclass blueprint on how it should be done! The warehouse scene with JC, Yuen Biao and Andy Lau does more for martial arts action cinema than any Hollywood film in the last 20 years (check out YB's tornado kick/back kick combo after flipping off a crate!) The final showdown is a martial feast that makes you forget you're watching a "comedy", and even the little post motorbike chase scuffle between JC and Richard Norton is beautifully edited and features a background Rock Guitar style bit of music - giving it great atmosphere. Oh, apart from the shot where JC leaps out of the moving car and turns into the "Mitchelin Man" (blink and you'll miss it).

For the action, this is definatley worth owning but I'll bet most of you never watch the film in it's entirety more than once. I'd rather quite happily spend an hour and a half replaying the warehouse scene!

Only got this for the two excellent fight scenes. The humour is daft and expected of oriental slapstick kung-fu from the 80s. Maybe it's just me, but a few lines still make chuckle, especially watching it Dubbed.
