The Cine-Asia release is in great quality which is good. I found the film to be very enjoyable although there is a film made just before this one called dragon fight/the defector and it's also set in America, I think it's better but I'm not sure why it's not been remastered. Jet li plays `Jet' who comes to America and ends up searching for his master who at first rejects him and tells him to leave America, Jet gets cuaght up in a battle against an evil Kung fu expert who plans to wipe out all other kung fu masters etc...Jet has a loyal crew of followers and anyway the climax is very entertaining and overall this is a very pure marital arts film due to the fact that wirework is minimal/non existent. I found the acting from the Americans to be pretty bad and corny apart from the main villain at times who's good in the fight scenes, but the Chinese and Latino actors are all very watchable, the Latino boys are stupid but funny. You should enjoy this film for what it is, nothing more than a slightly corny but entertaining film and (I echo a previous reviewer) movies like The One, Cradle 2 the grave, Romeo must die etc..suck compared to this.

I first saw this Jet Li movie a number of years ago when I was lucky enough to find a VHS copy in my local Post Office. Sure enough it doesn't rival Jet Li's classic movies such as Fist of Legend, The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk 1& 2 (aka the legend 1 and 2), Hero, Kiss Of the Dragon etc. Yet I found this an extremely watchable movie of Jet Li's. To the point that when an opportunity arose to purchase this title from America on region 1 DVD I did so. Also when this DVD from Hong Kong legends(now re-released through Cine Asia) was finally released over here I bought the film again.

Personally what I liked about the film was Jet Li performs his extraordinary skills without or with minimal wirework in far more grounded display. I'm not a fan of wirework, at least I don't mind the use to accentuate natural moves making them that little bit more spectacular. But as much as a fan of Jet Li as I am, far too many of his films feature wirework that go beyond accentuating natural talent.

This film was one of Jet Li's early attempts at breaking Hollywood and in my opinion is far more successful, or perhaps I should say MUCH better in my opinion, than later big budget Hollywood efforts such as Cradle 2 The Grave, The One and War, showcasing Jet Li's undeniable talent.

Jet Li stars as a young rebelious student who comes to American to find his former Master, but when he arrives he finds out his Master has been attacked and brutally beaten by another one of his former pupils and sets out to exact revenge with the help of three Mexican gang bangers.

The film is played out mainly as comedy and only really gets serious in the final 20 minutes. Jet Li is as good as he allways is in the fight sequences but this still turns out to be a slow and boring film.

Its not Jet Li's worst film but it is far from his best.

Golden Harvest took a basically promising idea for a script and ruined it, the acting is hopeless and the characters even worse - even the fight scenes cannot save this turkey of a movie and I am a fan of Jet Li but this is rubbish. I have watched this so-called film once and will not be repeating my mistake.

I bought this based on the previous reviews but was really disappointed. It is a bad TV movie, the quality of the acting, story and filming is really poor. Granted, he does do some martial arts scenes but that does not make up for the 2 hrs of your life you will waste watching this!

The film starts of quite slow which is why i only give it 3 stars but it has a lot of humour with a good storyline and a lot of action. The final fight is very good, and there are a lot of scenes which i laughed out loud at. I strongly recommend it.
