Welcome to Angela's Halloween party. It's a riot. Held at abandoned funeral parlour in the sticks, Hull House, a place with a terrible history where the spirits flow freely. There's just one problem. Staying alive till the morning.
For some reason I never got to see this film in the 80's. It was worth the wait, as I knew I was going to love it right from hearing the cheesy synth score that accompanies the opening credits. The usual ingredients of 1980's horror are all present. Great, imaginative special effects in a time before C.G.I. Bad acting and a group of teen stereotypes. A subtle dose of humour running alongside the horror. It's an irresistable mix.
'Night Of The Demons' belongs amongst the best of the decade. The fact it is largely forgotten, whilst 'The Evil Dead' gets all the plaudits is mainly due to lack of distribution and restricted availability on dvd until recently. It's a hugely enjoyable horror film, both a creepy old house story and a Halloween treat.
One thing that disappoints slight is the lack of extras on this Anchor Bay release, the higlight probably being a featurette 'My Demon Nights', basically an interview with Scream Queen Linnea Quigley. The cover art for this dvd is awful, doing this great film no favours at all. 5 out of 5 for the main event anyway.

Now many of you will have seen Demon House, this is in bargain bins everywhere. It tells the tale of Angela and the inhabitants of Hell House.
Well this is where it all started, and this blows Demon House out of the water.
Excessively crude and extremly violent, its a true gem which is years before its time.
Dont miss out on this title.

I won't go too deeply into the plot details for this one. It's a horror movie made in the 80's; it takes place in an old dark house; teenagers get possessed by demons; there's plenty of gore and nudity (Linnea Quigley is in it, so the latter's a given). That pretty much sums it up. Oh, and there's this weird scene with a lipstick... but I won't spoil that for you.

Long story short: if you're a fan of schlocky, sensationalistic fright flicks then you could definitely do worse than this cult favourite.

The film was remade a few years back, and the result wasn't too bad either. Both versions of the film are worth a watch if you're a fan of this sort of thing. The sequels (Night of the Demons 2 and Demon House) are also enjoyable enough if you're in the mood for some undemanding horror fun - the sort of thing that might go down well at Halloween, perhaps.

A note about the different versions that are available: I originally owned a copy of the Midnight Movies release of the film, but recently picked up a copy of the newer Anchor Bay release. The AB release is superior by far, with better visual quality and more DVD extras, as well as a cheaper price tag.

For all of you who like horror movies, this one is a must. It tells the story of a group of teenagers who set out to spend the night on a haunted house. When one of them turns into a demon/zombie and starts chasing the others, that's when the fun starts...
This one is one of the best b-movies I've ever seen and one of the scariest - of course I've first seen it when I was 15 years old and far more impressionable than today. The music score is excellent and adds a lot to the picture. The only flaw I see on this DVD is the lack of extras wich would add real value to it. I recommend it for the fans of movies like "The Evil Dead". ;-)

When will teenagers ever learn? A group of them get up to horny tomfoolery and shenanigans at a Halloween party at a local former funeral parlour. Unfortunately a demon is accidentally released and possesses a couple of partygoers and goes on a bloody rampage. Although the pace of the film drags a little to start with. Once the Demons turn up its non-stop action. It manages to mix the right amount of horror, suspense and humour. And is ultimately it's entertaining. The make-up is outstanding for a film of this measure. And the way it is shot is certainty creepy. Scream Queen Linnea Quigley is on fine form. She does a trick with a lipstick that has to been seen to be believed. Amelia Kinkade also stands out and has an amazing dance scene. This also has one of the most bewildering endings I've ever seen.

I was a huge fan of this movie when it came out. I must have watched it on VHS 100 times as it was definitely a favorite of mine when I was growing up. Two sequels and a lame remake doesn't do anything to diminish the fun of this original 80's film, the plot revolves around a group of high school kids that are invited to a Halloween party at a haunted house. The house is a local mortuary, that has been abandoned for years. The kids are the usual gang of idiots, the class clown, the tough guy, the token black guy, the preppy kid, the preppy, the goth chick and the virgin who will have to fight off the demons! The main villain, Angela, decides to bring on a séance and unleashes hell onto the kids, and each dies a horrible death!

I'm surprised with how well this movies has held up. Yea there's a bit of dated 80's humor but for the most part it still works surprisingly well. Plus they just don't make Scream Queens like Linnea anymore, she's awesome in both this and 'Return of the Living Dead". Night is assuredly a B-flick, but the creative production and wealth of delightfully gross gore effects elevate this outing well above its peers. There are enough great ideas here to fill out several like-minded offerings, and Tenney's demented funhouse approach serves the film incredibly well. Once the plot's demonic possession angle takes center stage, the action hums along with a series of dazzling and surreal set-pieces that announce Night's ambition to present itself as the most enjoyable supernatural slasher ever made. I highly recommend this to horror fans.
