City girls, Pamela and Jacki hire a car to explore some of Britain's most beautiful countryside in Devon and Cornwall. Already enjoying some freedom from the routine of daily life, they stumble upon committed nudists Bridget and Angela - and that's when the holiday and the fun really starts. Secrets of a Windmill Girl London's historic Windmill Theater became famous as the only London establishment that stayed open throughout the Blitz. At the time it offered live entertainment that mixed comedy with semi-nude burlesque dancing. Filmed by Stanley Long SECRETS OF A WINDMILL GIRL captures the excitement of London in the mid-60s, while telling the tale of the brutal demise of Windmill's star performer. All of the stage scenes use the theatre's real dancers to give viewers a taste of what the Windmill was like back in the 60 s.

When John Trevelyan became secretary to the British Board of film censors in 1958 he set about libralising the system.He allowed the exhibition of naturist films and gave them an "A" certificate.Normally they would be shown in what were known as continental cinemas with an "X" certifice film in the progrsamme.so it could not be seen by anyone under 16."Naked As Nature Intended" was one of the first nudist films exhibited.It follows the normal narrative path.A young female naturist introduces her friends to the joys of naturist life.Lots of volleyball and running around on beaches.Always with a towel or beach ball hiding private parts.Many of them had punning titles such as "My Bare lady" or "Some Like It Cold".Looked at now they arent particularly entertaining.However i doubt that this would have been the aim of the makers.They just wanted to show as much flesh as they could get away with. "Secrets Of A Windmill Girl" doesnt really have many secrets and promises rather more than it delivers.It seems to ignore the fact that the Windmill was famed for its tableaux vivant.Unfortunately this was a contributory factor to its closure in 1964.As a theatre it was subject to the censorship of the Lord Chamberlains office.The rule was if it moves its rude.So the nudes had to be stock still,unlike one of the dances featured here.So the windmill was unable to compete against the striptease clubs that sprung up in Soho.This film gives little real impression of the windmill.It features a truly awful performance by a novice Pauline Collins ,who of cours would strip off years later in "Shirley Valentine"One for nostalgics only.

An unintentionally hilarious example of how British soft porn films evaded the censor by cloaking their offerings in the guise of informative documentary. In this case the premise is a loony travelogue in which four 'fun loving girls' travel from London to the Cornish Riviera (taking in Stonehenge and Tintagel on the way), discover a nudist beach and spend the final five minutes of the film playing volleyball (Naked of course)
