It's got humour, it's got imagination, it's got creativity, it's got a vast range of brilliant characters, it's a good watch, it's worth buying, but it's got no coffee!

I was never a fan of Little Britain so I can't compare. For me though, this series is just wonderful. The documentary style is perfect, and makes me laugh at real documentaries now when the voiceover is done in the same over-serious way. The characters, especially Precious Little, are wickedly humorous: "got no coorffeee" is now part of our family's vocabulary! And the pointed references to Easyjet are fantastic, with stand-up seats, credit card-accessed fixed-time lifejackets and the Greek owner. Some sketches fall flat and/or are overlong, but try watching Monty Python now and you'll find the same thing. Really, this DVD is just brilliant!

Welcome to the world of FlyLo, "Britain's eighth favourite low-cost airline".

............................

It pretty much boils down to this: you either like COME FLY WITH ME or you don't. There's no inbetween, chiefly because the show is so much more than the sum of its parts and, as a result, opinions diverge - just as they did with LITTLE BRITAIN only a few short years ago.

Filmed, mockumentary-style, at an actual airport, Come Fly With Me has the benefit of being populated with real (background) personnel, facilities and, of course, passengers. The attention to detail is quite breathtaking and this is where the brilliance of the concept really comes alive; MATT LUCAS and DAVID WALLIAMS have created a scenario with endless possibility. Better still, most of the characters have their own little story arcs - nothing too heavy, but it does mean that each episode is best watched in order and, as a result, we care more for what happens to them.

REALLY?
Yes, really.

BUT IT'S ALL SO POLITICALLY INCORRECT. HOW CAN YOU, FOR EXAMPLE, SIT THROUGH ALL THAT RACIAL STEREOTYPING?
Simple: it's very funny and, crucially, no-one's exempt - they're all under the spotlight. Grotesque behaviour is common to all these people. But after seeing Walliams and Lucas in action one thing is abundantly clear: they each possess that rare gift of a twinkle in the eye - the non-knowing, non self-indulgent sort - which means that even if the material isn't quite pitch perfect (mostly it is, however) it's still possible to watch the broad goings on with a smile on your face.

I know this hasn't been released yet, and I can't wait to get my hands on it, but having seen this on the BBC - it is the best thing Walliams and co have ever done.

Don't get me wrong, I love little britain but I always felt they tipped the balance a little too much with some of the daring humour.

Come fly with me is more controlled than their other work, and the characters are really inspired - I laughed through every episode and this show deserves another season a least. Hilarious stuff.

I must admit that I wasn't that great a fan of 'Little Britain', I personally found it a bit hit and miss, but when this first came on tv I thought I would give it a go, and now at last, I have bought the dvd, which I had kept meaning to do.

Making a mockumentary in an airport, where we have had documentary series' before of such things may not sound like it would be funny, but Matt Lucas and David Walliams shows just how much room there is for comedy in such a situation. The characters that they have created work so well, especially as we can relate to them. Who hasn't worked with a character like Precious?, I know I have many a time. We probably all know a racist such as the Immigration Officer, who in this case will stop the legitimate people but quite ridiculously let in dodgy people. Moses for me works, because I actually used to work with someone who looked like him. All the characters we can relate to in one form or another, and we all know what it is like in airports.

With a whole host of hilarious characters (who can forget the Japaneses schoolgirls who want to see Martin Clunes?) this is a comedy gem of a series. We have here two discs which show the whole series, they also have subtitles, also you have the Christmas trailer shorts, and a documentary with an interview between the two stars and Mark Lawson, which is well worth watching. All in all this is brilliant, and I am glad that at last I have got the dvd, roll on the second series.

It's often said that Dali as an impressionist painter needed to know how to paint "properly" before he could then paint in his known-for abstract way, for without the understanding of the fundamentals, he could not "bend" and distort them in such a way that they were still familiar to us.

The same can be said for this collection of "mockumentary" comedy; the observations that both Lucas and Walliams make and then distort to hilarious comedic effect, based upon the endless airport-based "fly on the all" documentary programmes that still fill our channels even now.

They are all there, on show; the camp "personal shopping assistant" Moses, the lady who runs the coffee bar, but always skives off, the gormless baggage-handlers, the leering paparazzi photographers, the money-mad owner of an airline and so many more send-ups of the familiar characters from the "real" shows.

It's only a shame that Lucas didn't want to pursue the format any more, as the BBC commissioned a follow-up second series, but although Walliams wanted to do it, Lucas wasn't interested.

It's still one of the shows I can watch over and over again, and still find funny.
