IT ALL ENDS HERE.

The most twisted, gruesome and successful horror franchise in the world comes to a close in Saw: The Final Chapter. A deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy as a group of Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) survivors gather to seek the support of self-help guru, and fellow survivor, Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery). Soon though, the survivors really must help themselves as Dagen's dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror...

Saw: The Final Chapter brings the horrifying games of Jigsaw to life in mind-blowing 3D so you can experience the gore like never before, psychologically testing the viewer as Jigsaw does his victims.

The time has come for all to witness the final act of a legend. Every master craftsman and all true geniuses save their best for last.

The final chapter wasn't my favourite Saw movie, but it was still alright and very well planned out.
But the thing I want to mention was the ending. That ending was significantly fantastic, it is now one of my favourite horror movie endings, and believe me, usually horror movies end with the killer dead, and the main character and his boyfriend/girlfriend hugging and all that, but this ending was different, this ending gave the feeling of feeling epic, and take my word most of the movie might not be that exciting, but you just wait until the end, as (SPOILER ALERT)

Dr. Gordon comes back to make Johns final request happen, and that the fact he hasn't been reappeared since the first Saw, he decides to put Hoffman through the pain that Adam had to go through, and (My favourite bit of the whole franchise) when Hoffman is reaching for the saw to grant him his freedom, Gordon picks up the saw taking one good look at it and says to Hoffman "I don't think so" and throws the saw like a Frisbee right out of the bathroom leaving Hoffman helpless.

And, the end the final chapter, Gordon limps through the door, switches off the lights, and like every great saw movie, the line of truth happens and Gordon says "Game over", and that ladies and gentlemen is game over.

I would've gave this three stars or two and a half, but believe me, it is worth it when you get to the end and watch the last five minutes of it.

I'm guessing if you are looking to buy this 3D blu ray you are highly likely to be aware of what the saw franchise is about, so this review is mainly going to be based on the quality of the presentation.....

First the film - as with all the SAW movies the deaths are gratuitous & plentiful with the wooden acting that has become a staple of the later SAW films (1 & 2 were actually quite well acted!) this is mainly due to the no name actors - I don't mean this to offend them..... But they are not household names if you know what I mean ;) the budget has been put into the wonderful contraptions which is definitely evident! The plot is actually not that bad tbh and the ending was actually pretty well thought out, though I saw (lol) it coming a mile away everyone else that watched it with me didn't - so was a twist ending on the rule of averages!

The 3D presentation via a 4K upscale on a 55" tv was not too bad - depth was good, but not too gimmicky which surprised me a little, I thought there might be more things poking out towards the viewer!!! I did find that there was a weird purple/green tinge in some scenes but it was not too distracting. The movie is presented as 1:78 which means no black bars at top or bottom which I prefer for 3D playback as it helps immerse the viewer a little more than 2:35.

Sound as always on a blu ray with an uncompressed 7.1 sounded awesome :)

I gave the overall package a 3 out of 5 - an ok late night horror flick with average to good 3D..... Recommend a view especially for under a fiver!!!!

Detective Matt Gibson chases psychotic Detective Hoffman while Jigsaw's widow Jill tries to kill him as assigned by her husband.

However he escapes and Jill meets Gibson and offers to sign an affidavit listing the murders committed by Hoffman.

In return, she requests protection. Meanwhile, Jigsaw survivor and leader of a support group Bobby Dagen is abducted with his wife and friends and forced to play a mortal game to save himself and his beloved wife.....

So it's finally the end of the saga, there have been some good movies (1,2,6) and some awful ones (3,4,5), and the final one fits somewhere in the middle.

The 3D is awful, so don't bother, and the other thing that really bugged me was just how over the top they went with he gore. In some scenes it gets to the point where the bodies are literally wobbling they look that fake.

The sub-plot involving the 'survivor' is really well done, its just he is wearing way too much make up and looks like a cut price Edward Norton.

Tobin Bell pops up briefly, and Mandylor look as constipated as ever. The acting is horrible in this, and there are some people who are almost corpsing its that bad.

Elwes saves the show, and the legacy comes round full circle at the end.

Plot holes aside (how on earth did they get that opening set up in the middle of a busy street without anyone noticing?) it's an okay end to an okay series of films.

But when you watch the first movie and compare it to this, you realise how absurd that movies have become.

And there we have it, the end of an era, a great film franchise that was thoroughly entertaining since its original release. But as with other horror titles, where there's a final chapter, a new beginning has usually followed.

The makers had a lot to cram in to this 90 minute edition, as it was the last. So many questions needed answering and so little time. In the past they could have decided to leave out some of the whys and whens until the following sequel, but not now, it all had to be tied up, and the film suffers for it at times as a montage of events takes over as you try and take it all in.

The traps are as good as ever, with one or two cringe worthy moments, but alas, we've seen it all before, the gore, the blood, the violence and any further sequel would have seemed repetitive. When you start to laugh at people who are being killed you know it's time to call it a day, and at times in this edition the fake blood seemed very fake indeed, unlike previous splashings.

Still great entertainment and more unexpected turns, but in a ludicrous sort of way. You must 'see saw' from the original for yourself to appreciate its true value, but should a new beginning emerge it must contain new characters, new locations and a new concept.

Game Over?
