Shameless are becoming a label to rival the likes of Arrow in releasing cult movies in quality presentations. Their latest is all 3 Bronx warriors movies, available in a boxset or separately if you prefer.

The Italians were shameless copyists in whatever was popular in the states, so with the success of John carpenter's "Escape from New York" and Walter Hill's "The Warriors, an italian rip off was quickly put together.

Directed by legendary italian director Enzo J Castellari (Inglorious Bastards,Street law etc) The Bronx warriors was cited by Castellari as being inspired by Escape from New york but it borrows as much from The Warriors as it does anything else.

The year is 1990 and the Bronx has been abandoned by New york City, overun with criminals and the dregs of society, America declares the Bronx a no go zone and is cordoned off with criminals now running amok free of the law!

When a rich heiress decides to run away to the Bronx from her estranged father she meets up with a biker gang (The Riders) and hooks up with it's leader Trash (Mark Gregory). The Riders are one of many gangs who rule the Bronx headed by kingpin Ogre (Fred Williamson) The girl's father hires an assassin Hammer (Vic Morrow) to bring the girl back at all costs but the girl doesn't wan't to go back, can she escape the clutches of the notorious Hammer?

Ann (Stefania Girolami) is the daughter of a wealthy businessman Mr Fisher (Enio Gnirolami) and she runs away from him and ends up in the Bronx, a city that is now run by rival gangs. She is saved by the 'Riders' lead by Trash (Mark Gregory). Mr Fisher however hires a killer by the name of Hammer (Vic Morrow) to turn the gangs against each other and bring his daughter back alive.

I have always been a fan of Enzo G. Castellari films such (Inglorious Bastards, Keoma etc) and I was not let down by this. Castellari was a great director of shoot-out action sequences but here were the majority of the action is hand to hand just like in Walter Hills 'The Warriors' but I did feel it was poorly choreographed.

The acting is hard to judge as of the poor dubbing but I wasn't impressed by Mark Gregory in the lead role to me he seems to camp and the way he moves seems to feminine but I did like the supporting performances from Fred Williamson and George Eastman.

The music by Walter Rizzati is mainly average but there was one great piece used in the funeral sequence.

Overall this is a highly enjoyable action packed film but I'd rather watch Inglorious Bastards.
