Product Description

Triple bill of action films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 'Raw Deal' (1986), former FBI agent Mark Kaminsky (Schwarzenegger) was forced to leave the Bureau due to his excessive brutality. When someone is required to infiltrate Luigi Patrovita's (Sam Wanamaker) crime organisation in Chicago, Kaminsky is offered a second chance by FBI man Harry Shannon (Darren McGavin). He agrees to take on a job as Patrovita's bodyguard, and destroy the mob from within. In 'Red Heat' (1988), Moscow policeman Captain Ivan 'Iron Jaws' Danko (Schwarzenegger) is on the trail of Russian drug dealer Viktor Rostavilli (Ed O'Ross) in the USA when he is ambushed by the dealer's gang. When Rostavilli makes his escape, an American cop is killed. Danko teams up with the dead cop's partner (James Belushi) in a bid to complete his mission, but the resulting culture clash between East and West causes various hilarious problems. In 'Total Recall' (1990), Doug Quaid (Schwarzenegger), a happily married construction worker living in the year 2084, is haunted by a recurrent dream in which he is living with a woman on Mars. Rekall Incorporated offer him the chance to live out his dream through a microchip which implants any memories their client desires into their brain. But something goes wrong during the installation of Quaid's memories of a trip to Mars and soon he lands up on the planet for real, unsure of his true identity and pursued by a gang out for his blood. He teams up with a group of resistance fighters to uncover a mystery which leads to the highest echelons of the planet's government.

You get what you get with Arnie: explosions, dead people, cheesy one liners, gurning edge-of-the-bog facial expressions, etc. But thats why we love him. Total Recall is the classic, Raw Deal is my personal favourite of the 3, and Red Heat is alright, despite the presence of the ever-irritating, professional American Jim Belushi. Its not Arnaldo's best, but go on... watch it at least once.

They're all old films now, and come across well on Blu Ray. Haven't looked for any "extras" because theyre usually boring interviews or pointless out-takes that were out-took for a reason.

Bargain for the price, even if you just watch Total Recall and Raw Deal and use the Red Heat disk as a frisbee.

Bought this set as it was the cheapest way to get Total Recall. I don't know why the Total Recall DVD's are priced at £18+? Anyway, with the new Total Recall in production I realised I didn't have this one in my DVD collection to show my kids. It is an iconic Arnie movie and deserves a place in anyone's collection. It also has Red Heat, which is a bonus for me as I really like the smart mouthed James Belushi and enjoy their little verbal sparring matches, despite the many reviews slating it. Raw Deal and Red Sonja are also included in this set. Worth the £8 just for Total Recall and Red Heat.

As far the quality of the films are concerned they are a great purchase and getting 'Total Recall' in the collection is worth the cost alone. New single copies of this film are priced at over £18.00.

My only complaint which is my own fault I assumed that the dvd's would have subtitles. Unfortuately they don't. This is a problem for me and others with my disability, 'I am deaf' Just goes to show you that you should not take things for granted?

At least others can enjoy.

This is definitely one of those cases where you simply CAN'T go wrong. Three Blu-Ray discs for the price of one.

First we have Total Recall - one of the most definitive science-fiction movies ever made. Based on a short story it tells the tale of a lowly construction worker Douglas Quaid who - after a visit to 'Recall' to have fake memories of 'the holiday of a lifetime' implanted in his mind - finds himself dragged into a tale of intrigue and interplanetary politics.
One of the very rare movies that leave you guessing even at the end - was it real?

Secondly we have Raw Deal - One of Scwarzenneger's lesser known movies but nontheless enjoyable for the man in your life. (Or yourself if you ARE a man).
An Ex-FBI agent, now working as a sheriff is asked (with promise of reinstatement into the FBI) to help bring down a violent mob boss. The best way to achieve this goal is to go undercover IN the mob, working FOR the boss. However, things do not go according to plan...

Lastly but by no means least we have Red Heat. Another lesser known 'Arnie' movie sees him as a Soviet-Russian cop who is sent to America to pick up a Georgian drug dealer who managed to escape to the U.S. but is now awating extradition.
When the criminal manages to escape custody, Arnie must team up with his American counterpart (played by Jim Belushi) and they must overcome their differences and find a way to work together if they are to succeed in recapturing the criminal. A 'chalk and cheese' story - Old East meets West. Well worth watching.

The three movies contained extra scenes that I have not seen during their respective TV broadcast, though I have seen none of their theatrical releases so those might have been cut to show them in prime time TV.

All three disks are in B-Zone format. All three disks included in a single regular sized case.

TOTAL RECALL:
Animated start menu, English DTS-HD MA Audio, No Subtitles. Extras: 5.1 output channels sound test. A picture test to adjust the contrast and brightness of the TV set, the later would not give any result. The quality of the transfer was very poor. No re-mastering of both video and audio. The contrast and saturation were off, it wasn't particularly grainy and it seamed like Noise reduction was applied. A movie in DVD would look better.

ROW DEAL:
Animated start menu, English DTS-HD MA Audio, No Subtitles. Extras: A French TV documentary (in English) about Arnold's rise in Hollywood (same as on Red Heat disk). A review of the movie by a British author of a book on Arnold and his movies. The theme of the reviews: Generic movie. :) The quality of the transfer was average. No re-mastering of both video and audio, but better then in Total Recall. A movie in DVD would look the same.

RED HEAT:
Animated start menu, English DTS-HD MA Audio, No Subtitles. Extras: A French TV documentary (in English) about Arnold's rise in Hollywood (same as on Row Deal disk. A review of the movie by a British author of a book on Arnold and his movies. The theme of the reviews: Generic movie. :) The quality of the transfer was average. No re-mastering of both video and audio, but better then in Total Recall. A movie in DVD would look the same.

Three great movies in one package. It's not a 5-star because it has no subtitles available. Sometimes it's hard to understand the conversation, it would be better if, at least, an english subtitle was available.
