Product Description

Danish Edition, PAL/Region 2 DVD: Subtitles: Danish. Special Features: 50 min. The World's First Superhuman Hero from New Jersey isiBack! Toxie's mean, green, and back on the screen! Melvin Junko was a nerdy 98 lb. weakling until he fell into a vat of toxic waste, turning him into the first ever superhero from New Jersey. This time the hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength takes on Tokyo. The Toxic Avenger Part II is a spectacular sequel with even more ingenious special effects, even more bizarre action, and even more unbelievably fabulous fight scenes. He's come a long way from Tromaville, baby!

I'm a massive fan of the first Toxic Avenger and the 88 Films Blu Ray release was excellent all round.

This release is solid, but the film itself is even worse than I remember. The picture quality varies from excellent to good, but overall it looks and sounds as good as it ever could.
The film itself is overlong, very badly paced ( a chase scene at the end seems to go on forever) and the humour is appalling. And not in a 'so bad its funny' way. the music is dreadful, the acting from minor and background characters is just ridiculous.
When a film is this bad, it needs plenty of gore and tits, and this film has minimal quantities of both.

The bonus features appear plentiful at first, but they add up to mere minutes. I have yet to listen to the audio commentary.

I appreciate the effort put into these releases, from the packaging to the transfer to the features. And I LOVE a good awful movie, but this film crosses the line and is mostly painful viewing. Even as a kid with the VHS I found it difficult to sit through.

I'm still looking forward to Toxic Avenger III and IV on Blu ray though!

The first superhero from New Jersey is back!

Once again 88 films have blessed us with another awesome Troma cult classic on Blu-ray, and what a top notch release it is! The toxic avenger series has to be one of Troma's best, I love the sequel as much as the original as it continues the saga of Melvin Junko the hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength, after ridding Tromaville of all scum and crime things get quiet as Toxie settles down with his girlfriend Claire, then the evil Apocalypse Inc move in to take over and trick Toxie into going to find his father in Tokyo while they run Tromaville into the ground, the story is full of crazy corny comical moments as you would expect, very funny, and really well directed by Troma leader Lloyd Kaufman, the cast is brilliant, the soundtrack is great too and of course being a bigger sequel the effects get better with a lot more bloody splatter gore effects, this version of the film is the most uncut I've seen in years, I had the import 7-disc box-set which had the directors cut version and lots of gore was still missing even from that, but this Blu-ray from 88 films looks like finally we got the gore at 109mins long! ample nudity too as usual! If your a fan then finally this is the version to get!! Gem of a series!!

Great Blu-ray HD picture for an 80's movie!
Lots of great special features including a commentary, behind the scenes japan, short interviews, trailers etc.
Region FREE ABC, 109mins, 1989(original release)

If you get the HMV exclusive it comes with a lovely limited edition slipcase and poster!!

This review is the 88films blu ray release, once again great full HD picture and at last in the correct ratio so now it in widescreen, compared to my dvd version which was full screen and ok pic this is a great upgrade and yes this is the director cut version it might not say it on the cover but it is, so expect all the blood and gore in all it glory, i have to say this has been hit or a miss between the fans, yes they changed toxie voice but i still enjoyed it, i did feel could of shorten this film by 15-20min but overall still a cult classic and a must buy, to me 88films is becoming the new arrow video, great artwork on the covers and once again i like the green case for this release cant wait for next releases of toxic 3&4

this is like a laurel and hardy film, it really is, camp as sin and twice as mad and its mostly great but the version i saw of this was 108 mins long and there is no doubt that the film outstays its welcome. There is plenty of gore in the first half hour and then very little to none thereafter which is a letdown.

This is Better than the first One.More Artificial looking gore, more Bad Acting.Toxie is without a doubt a Flick that knows its limitations and uses them in a Fun Tongue heavily in Cheek Fashion.

Loved it. Seeing is believing! Toxie is duped into wind surfing to Tokyo to find his father, 'Big Mac Junko' or is it his father????
