Product Description

Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world-Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent's fiancée before their kingdom is destroyed. Thadeous (McBride) has spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he's settled for a life of wizard's weed, hard booze and easy maidens. But when Fabious' bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux)... All Righty!

Where to start ... Honestly I agree with a lot of the bad feedback although this is an amazing film. A lot of people are saying the film sucks because of the crude comedy and sexual banter. It is super super funny and although some people may not enjoy I don't believe that it is just a mans film. I saw this film in the cinema when it first came out and all my mates loved it ( boys & Girls).

I think if you like anything like American Pie or in general crude comedy then this is a great buy! The Blu-Ray transfer is also very good!

Hi,

Having watched this film twice in as many weeks i am compelled to fork out for the extended blu-ray version of this film. The way Danny McBride and James Franco interract is brilliant. If youre looking for a politically correct swashbuckling fantasy suitable for kids, this aint it. But if you want an irreverant mediavel romp with lots of toilet humour and foul language this is the movie for you.

Get the beers in and a curry, stick this movie in the dvd player and enjoy...

Even if I hated some parts of this fantasy comedy, I still liked most of it enough to not regret that I bought this DVD. Below, more of my impressions, with some SPOILERS.

Thadeous (Danny McBride, a.k.a. King of Stoner Comedy) and Fabious (James Franco, a.k.a. Oz the Great and Powerful) are sons of King Tallious (Charles Dance, a.k.a. Tywin Lannister). Fabious is the wonder boy - Thadeous on another hand is a disgrace to the human race... Still, even if they are very different, brothers love one another dearly.

Then one day the evil sorcerer Leezar (Justin Theroux, a.k.a. American Psycho), the old nemesis of the kingdom, kidnaps the fair maiden Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel, a.k.a. New Girl) who was just recently betrothed to Fabious. The latter, enraged and outraged at being so suddenly dis-engaged, gives immediately the chase. In this quest he will be helped by noble knight Boremont (Damian Lewis, a.k.a. the red haired guy from "Band of Brothers", "Life" and "Homeland"), a mysterious shield-maiden Isabel (Natalie Portman, who really doesn't need an a.k.a. anymore) as well as the very reluctant Thadeous and his even more reluctant servant Courtney (Rasmus Hardiker, who didn't play in enough stuff to earn an a.k.a. yet). Those last two go initially under duress and are very unhappy about it ("This quest sucks! I shouldn't even be there! I will probably die on this quest - Courtney certainly will!").

I will not say much about the rest of the story, except that it contains a mixture of both good comedy and extremely gross and vulgar moments, many of the latter I didn't enjoy AT ALL. In fact, I would advise to skip completely the scene when the brothers go to search the guidance of Great Wize Wizard (a CGI creature, a.k.a Stoned Child Abuser...

The best way to describe this film, would be to get you to think back over the past 30 years, and recall the fantasy films of the time. From Jason and the Argonauts, Excalibur, Labyrinth, Ladyhawke, Willow to Conan the Barbarian. And now imagine them with foul language & penis jokes along the way, that is Your Highness pretty much. So you need a pretty warped sense of humor to enjoy this, luckily i am open minded to such things, although it did have me even cringing in places, to be honest, so i'm only giving it 4 stars.

The story follows Prince Thadeous (Danny McBride -Land of the Lost) as a foul mouthed layabout Prince in the shadow of his older brother Prince Fabious (James Franco -Spider-Man 1-3) who is just the complete opposite. An amazing fighter who accomplishes quest after quest with his group of Knights, of note Boremont (Damien Lewis -Band Of Brothers), much to the delight of his father King Tallious (Charles Dance -Last Action Hero). However, after rescuing beautiful virgin Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel -

My Thoughts: Your Highness is more or less the typical kind of humour you would expect from director David Gordon Green, which is to say it has that sort of "Apatow" feel to it that you would expect Seth Rogan to have at LEAST co-written (yes, it has that kind of humour).

The acting is ridiculous, but for this production, this actually works. Overtheatrical, and basically overdone, at least it helps you to remain grounded in the fact that this film is a complete fantasy farce, which also means that every time someone comes out with a vulgarity, sexual slur or outspoken comment, you're not even going to blink twice.

Story was amusing, but at times just lost the plot completely. Basically, this is what would happen if you were to, for example, mix 'Dungeons and Dragons' with 'Pineapple Express' (probably a pair that should have never been thrown together in the first place).

Not the best comedy out there, it's a 2 hr running 'dick and balls' joke. Still, that being said, it's still more amusing than 'Year One', and '10,000 B.C.'.

The Plot: Prince Thadius is a self-centred sarcastic and lazy royal. Thadius begins to feel the unhappy sting of jealousy when his older, more handsome and more successful brother Fabious returns from questing with the head of a cyclops and new beautiful bride-to-be Belladonna on his arm. When the evil warlock Leezar kidnaps Belladonna, Thadius is forced to join Fabious on a quest to save her.
