Both "Flower Of Flesh And Blood" and "Android Of Notre Dame" have subtitles that are out of sync (they appear 3-5 seconds too early), which is very annoying. Furthermore, "Devil's Experiment" doesn't have any English subtitles, both are in German.
I'm giving this release 2 out of 5 because the company obviously forgot to check the discs before they were sent away for duplication.

This series is probably the very origins of unadulterated torture porn, the first two films in the series are the most graphic gore drenched torture films about with effects that seem way ahead of their time, a must have for extreme gore/horror fans

A collection of low-budget Japanese shorts made during the 80's, full of gore and bizzare and disturbing scenario's. None of these films I found to be amazing, but despite the nature and questionable content of the films, the gore and make-up effects are, for the most part, superb!

The Devil's Experiment:
Vicious and cruel 40 minutes of torture and humiliation of a woman by three guys. Quite nasty despite being light on gore, though the infamous 'eyeball' scene is horribly realistic! A tad bit boring to be honest overall. As for the lack of english subtitles provided for this film on the XT release, that didn't matter to me as there is no comprehensible dialogue anyway! 5/10

Flowers of Flesh and Blood:
An almost carbon-copy of the first movie, but the gore factor has been amped-up significantly! The female victim is dismembered in horrifically realistic fashion, realistic enough to convince a hollywood star to report the film to the FBI fearing it to be a legitimate snuff movie! Gorehound heaven! 7/10

He Never Dies:
The series takes a different direction with this wacky and bloody comedy about a man who discovers he cannot die despite inflicting horrible mutilations on his body. Silly but fun. 6/10

Devil Woman Doctor:
This one see's a Tranny doctor introduce us, the audience, to some of the more bizarre and disgusting health conditions that inflict some citizens of Japan. Mildly amusing and at times gross, but one of the least gory of the series. 6/10

Android of Notre Dame:
A Dwarf scientist attempts to find a cure for his dying sister by conducting human experiments in his underground lab. One of the more ambitious entries but it just doesn't have the budget to achieve what it wants to do effectively.Read more ›

A must for any horror fan of extreme Japanese films, it really does deliver the goods in the gore stakes, with flower flesh and blood being the most notorious of the lot but mermaid in a manhole is the best in the series.
