This is a pretty nice 2 fer1 package that gives you both the first and second parts of the 'Bound Heat' production of "Caligula's Spawn" all on one disk. For anyone who isn't familiar with the 'Bound Heat' product - they are a series of, relatively, soft core films made in the Czech Republic that typically feature some light weight B&D elements and a lot of tastey young Czech girls running around in their 'birthday suits'. "Caligula's Spawn" is purportedly set in ancient Roman times and focuses on a couple of female slave traders who procure and train peasant girls from the Germanic provinces to feed the slave markets of Rome. The flik starts with a scene of a couple of 'resident' slave girls being disciplined then jumps to the capture of 3 new girls in the forest. Most of the 'action' deals with 'breaking in' these new slave girls. The titular deviant emperor 'Caligula' actually never puts in an appearance, but it turns out that one of the newly captured girls is the niece of a Roman patrician and this gets the principal, very attractive, female slave trader (Drusilla) in hot water with the elite Roman clientele that she markets to. Although this sounds like there is actually a plot of sorts at work, the film really is just a series of scenes of the female slave traders relating to their slave girls in a variety of ways. Fer instance... all of the new slave girls are 'examined' individually at (great) length, they get scrubbed down in a bath by more naked slave girls, some get punished for their disobedience by being chained to a wheel grinding grain or tied to a cross & whipped, and (of course) there are ample scenes of sapphic love-making. In the end, there is a flip-flop of power as the slaves become the masters and Drusilla is made to suffer the indignaties that she formerly dished out.Read more ›

A real curio. the script and story are rubbish but the film quality and beauty of the actresses very high.
It is all so ridiculous and softcore I am surprised there were not a lot of outtakes and giggling.
But if you like female flesh and a slight dom/sub theme this could please you!
Oh and the ration of about 3 girls to every 1 man who have minor background roles, as it is very lesbo-erotic

It is OK pretty well sums this film up. The plot is fairly basic, as are the sets and the acting is about on a par with weak amateur dramatics. Unlike many reviewers I didn't think the girls really redeemed the film. While pleasant enough 'eye candy', I didn't think they were actually that stunning; I've certainly seen more attractive young women than these naked on film. They all moved woodenly and one or two displayed traces of very 'un-Roman slave girl' modern pale bikini tan marks. I was totally bemused by the dialogue delivered in heavy East European accents, "I known sell cheap slaves", being a typical memorable example

Highlight of the film? Early on, the 'Benny Hill' style chase sequence; just a shame the director didn't play it for more laughs with some male actors with comic ability. Other points? Well , obviously every properly equipped dungeon should have a Roman style 'Spanish Donkey', the only real prop in this obvious low-rent production. Not sure why a costume designer appeared in the credits given the bulk of the cast wore precious little most of the time and the occasional toga requires little in the way of design talent.

I was pretty much disappointed. Not so much because of the beauty standard of the actresses (Rena Riffel admittedly is a gorgeous lady) but because the most basic of stories is spread out over two parts for god knows what reason. The only one I can think of is that the director and cast had so much time to kill that they decided to act at half speed. The dialogues could have been written by a 6-year old and many scenes are being repeated which contributes to more than 30 superfluous minutes. I sometimes had the impression my dvd player functioned at 1/2 of the normal speed. It is also strange that in ancient Rome, someone seems to have invented a way to take a redhot iron out of the fire which doesn't leave that typical little trail of smoke when pressed into the (attractive) bottom of these girls who then seem to recover within seconds from this harsh treatment and sport a nice clean brandmark which causes no discomfort. It's all so predictable and tedious and what I remember from this soporofic movie is that it was a big waste of wine and massaging oil. Push the FF button and you get about the right speed to watch this DVD...
