Product Description

Like most of us, Gordon Ramsay likes a good curry, though he has little idea about the roots of his favourite dish. Join Gordon as he travels through the regions of India on a journey of discovery to reveal a new rich culinary world. Steering clear of posh restaurants and fancy dining, this is a trip to uncover the real cooking the country has to offer. Meet the people, experience the sights and see the real India as Gordon travels the country in search of the origins of authentic Indian cuisine. From working the kitchen on the Mangalore Express to cooking on the streets of Mumbai, this is Indian food and life at its most real. Along the way, Gordon will meet a host of food mentors who will teach him their own Indian dishes and recruit him into a number of exciting, challenging food related pursuits as he learns totally new cooking skills. This is Gordon Ramsay unlike you have ever seen him before, more thoughtful and open minded whilst retaining his passion in search of culinary perfection. Part cookery programme, part travelogue; follow Gordon on a voyage of self discovery and culinary & cultural delight. This is Gordon s Great Escape.

This series really took me by surprise.

I should start off by pointing out that I have never really been a fan of Gordon Ramsey - although I like his food, his on screen personality has always been too abrasive for my tastes.

This series is unlike anything I have seen Ramsey do before. This show reveals a whole other side to the man that I didn't even know existed. And better than that it does it with a vibrant, colourful and exciting taste of india. This is not a tourists giude to india but more of a sample of life there. You can practically smell the food as it's cooked. The combination of a very likeable, excitable and personable Gordon Ramsey, mouthwatering food and culture makes this a fantastic series. I am deffinitely getting this!

As Gordon Ramsay would say, Holy F'ing hell! What a wonderful documentary! I watch the History Channel, Discovery, A&E, and National Geographic. I've never seen such a great take on what it's like to live in India. My employment company, a large software computer company, has a large stake in India. What a wonderful thing it would be to go there and experience what Gordon Ramsay has shown us here in this DVD. Even Gordon's film crew showed things I thought never possible by any documentary. They did a superb job in following Gordon and his travels throughout the country, from North, South, East, and West. And I'm shocked about some of the reviews I read about this DVD where they say it's a boring Ramsay cook off! NO WAY! This is the most amazing documentary I've ever seen regarding the country of India. Homeless people who live side-by-side for miles down the road. People traveling by elephant! From jungles, to deserts, to massively large cities! WOW! This is a must see DVD!! Heck, I'll put it on EBAY so you can buy it and see what a wonderful job Gordon has done. But I'm not done with it yet. I still have one more episode to watch. HEHE....
Next up! It's his next DVD visit to Asia! I haven't even started that one yet and it's two DVDs! I can't wait!!! Wow, Gordon Ramsay is a master in himself and has outdone anyone on the Food Network, as well as NATGEO, or any other History Channel, etc. I'm so honored to have known and seen the work of a MASTER human being, Gordon Ramsay. Holy Hell! He's a legend. WOW.......

I love India having travelled there myself and I love Indian food. Even so the fact that this series totally blew me away was completely unexpected. I have watched Gordon Ramsey's programs over the years and found him unpretentious and engaging but often thought the constant use of bad language unnecessary. This was something else, rather than been intimidated by the often overwhelming Indian way of life and culture Gordon took it head on. Not only was this a food program but it was a full blown adventure. Every touch and turn there was something new, a roller coaster of a ride. In a series' that almost every bit was a highlight two sections stand out for me, his reflections on his experience with the Guru, vegetarianism and religion and the section with him skiing behind the bulls. Fantastic! I will be buying this video, even as a foodie I never though I would hear me say that.

I love India ~ I love the food of India and I love Gordon Ramsay ~ what a fabulous combination!
Personally, I love this DVD - you get to tour India and watch Gordon Ramsay cook with the locals.
The one drawback is his foul language in front of women and children ~ as a guest in their country,
I'd expect a man of his stature to control his mouth and show respect for his hosts.
What he says on his own turf is one thing, but he should be embarrassed to be using such foul
language at his age and as a guest in another country ~ he needs to extend his vocabulary!
If you can get past the language thing, and his inflated ego, it's a fabulous DVD - I love it!

I really enjoyed watching this DVD, i think Gordon is really funny and makes watching this better than most other boring cooking shows.

I think Gordon really controlled himself from losing his cool a lot of times which was good, so it was different to his other shows like hells kitchen and kitchen nightmares.

this DVD is much more than cooking, it is about Gordon's experience of life in india, the cultures, beliefs as well as the cooking.

i really loved it, i found it fascinating as well as amusing.

In terms of the food available across India, the DVD did not really tell me anything new. It was interesting to see Gordon's views on real Indian food - which is far better than that across the UK.

The one part of the series that I did not like was Gordon's lack of integration. He did not seem to make any effort to adjust to the Indian way of things - particularly his manners. Had he not done any research on the culture of India before he left the UK? I'm sure I even saw him eating with his left hand...
