Product Description

Comedy horror penned by Diablo Cody, writer of the 2007 hit film 'Juno'. Megan Fox stars as cheerleader captain and undisputed high school hottie Jennifer Check, who goes from being 'high school evil' (gorgeous, popular and, like, so whatever) to really evil as she morphs into a vampire killer with an insatiable appetite for male flesh. Amanda Seyfried and Adam Brody co-star.

Oh how I wish Jennifer's Body (the movie) was as appealing as Jennifer's (Megan Fox's) body. Unfortunately, it isn't; what we have here is basically an average horror film that plays everything pretty straight down the middle and never really tries to do anything that would set itself apart from the pack. I wouldn't even give it an R rating - there's no real nudity (sigh), the blood and gore isn't overwhelming, and the story certainly doesn't produce much tension, let alone vicarious scares. If Megan Fox weren't so incredibly hot, I don't think this movie would be getting more than a handful of good reviews.

As if the storyline isn't predictable enough to begin with, the movie opens with Jennifer's best friend locked up in a mental institution, reflecting back on the events that put her there. Anita "Needy" Lesnicky (Amanda Seyfried) and Jennifer Check (Megan Fox) are a veritable best friend odd couple. Jennifer's is smoking hot and promiscuous, while Needy is reserved and nerdy. Their dysfunctional relationship begins to change the night that a local bar burns down, killing several of their classmates. Jennifer had dragged Needy there to see a new band called Low Shoulder and to meet the lead singer, whom Jennifer finds incredibly "salty." After the two escape the burning building, Jennifer decides to join the band in their bus and take off to who knows where. Upon her return, she's changed into an uncaring, self-obsessed person. She's also a murderer and a cannibal who must feed to maintain her strength and good looks.

The plot never ventures far from the tried and true path of horror predictability. Indeed, the only surprises I met along the way came in the form of brief appearances by Bill Fagerbakke and Amy Sedaris.

Format: DVD
Quite a likeable film aimed squarely at the teen market primarily so it doesn't stand up to direct comparisons with typical horror fare.
A half tacked on plot device has Megan Fox 'go strange' via the medium of demon possession and acquire a taste for human flesh. Utilising her charms to gain access to her college pals Meg expands her dining horizons by merrily munching through them in order to preserve her youthful appearance and vitality.
It starts off well with her friend delivering a dark and moody narrative from the confines of some type of correctional facility but is otherwise quite light hearted with lots of understated cultural one liners delivered as part of its dry humour running throughout.
I didn't think it was gory. There are plenty of scenes showing the aftermath of a kill with Meg wearing blood soaked clothing or with blood around mouth but very little in the way of actually seeing a kill with either the camera not focusing upon it or as with one kill, shown in silhouette. There's not much in the way of sex or nudity either which is a shame considering the cast though Meg does make continual reference to it in an earthy manner.
It was quite good, a fun way to pass a bit of time.

'Megan Fox' plays 'Jennifer' her best friend at College 'Needy' (Amanda Seyfield) 'Megan' an outgoing young woman,
'Needy' a bookworm who wouldn't say 'boo' to a Goose.
Things change for the friends when 'Megan' mysteriously become a seductive 'Vampire' with an insatiable appetite for
flesh, the more she gets, the more she wants.
'Needy' becomes a girl with an uncontrollable attitude problem these days........it all begins when................during an
evening out at a local bar that was cut short by a fire, 'Megan' agree's to go off with the Band that had played at the
bar that night in their van, 'Needy' declines.
When 'Megan' re-appears she is covered in blood............she had been turned into a deadly creature who craves for
flesh and blood, 'Jennifer' really wants her friend to be a part of what she has now become, however it could well be that
'Needy' may well be the only one that can prevent 'Jennifer's' reign of terror.
How does 'Needy' explain to her boyfriend 'Chip' (Johnny Simmons) what she knows 'Jennifer' had become ?
Perhaps somewhat 'teeny' in truth though there are several gory sequences along the way leading to the ultimate climax
of the film.............'Megan Fox' suitably seductive in the role.
The extended version is around 5 minutes longer than the Theatrical version.
Features -
* Includes both the Theatrical and Unrated versions.
* Audio Commentary on the Theatrical version by director Karyn Kusame
* Deleted Scenes
* Jennifer's Body - The Dead Pool
* Cast and Film-makers behind the scenes video diary

Okay so we're all agreed this isn't classic thoughtful film-making, however if you want a disposable slice of teen horror a la The Faculty [DVD] [1999] or The Craft [DVD] [1996], with attractive stars, plenty of gore, and some quirky performances (J K Simmons' turn as eccentric hook-handed high school principal is hilarious), then you'll enjoy this. The dialogue is often witty, the humour as black as pitch, and the special effects impressive. Grab a bag of popcorn, switch your brain off, and let it wash over you.
