A husband is put on trial for the murder of his wife. Throughout the trial we here from several witnesses about the lives of the victim and accused surprising elements are exposed.

A very weird and not so wonderful courtroom drama (loosely based on a true story). Straight of this is by no means a horror or even a thriller so those expecting one will be disappointed. We start off with the main murder in the film a violent clubbing to the head and as with the rest of the violent scene's (a sleazy rape & murder) it's done well & is probably the best aspect of the film. The films structure is mess, instead of a standard courtroom drama we are treated to a series of flashbacks that half the time add nothing and sometimes even mean nothing to the plot of the film, there are also flashbacks within flashbacks that do complicate things further and at times what is in real time and what isn't can be hard to determine. Acting is OK by the cast, but the husband played by Donald Pilon is more than a little shaky at times, the score is by Oscar winner Howard Shore which is very surprising for this kind of film. The pace of the film is very slow & again the endless flashbacks don't help. Overall the picture is watchable but if your looking for an easy going fast paced film look elsewhere.

The film was placed on the video nasties list in 1984 for a couple of months and despite the violence (& a chicken slaughterhouse sequence) this isn't a violent or extreme film and did not deserve its place.

Although the production changed names, locations and some minor events (told to us halfway through a scene at the beginning) the film was based on the infamous murder case of Peter Demeter in 1974 the longest trial in Canadian history.

This is a 1970′s courtroom drama where the husband of the dead victim in the dock. As more people come to the stand to tell their tale,we get a load of flashbacks from different people's perspective which makes us question who the killer was. This seems to be one of the more tamer of the video nasties. It includes a brief shot of chicken cruelty at the beginning, contains odd shots of the victim getting clubbed in the head throughout and a very short scene where a hitchhiker gets stabbed and rapped but this is not very long or graphic. Overall it is a very average film in plot, script, acting, direction and editing.
