Product Description

"GOAL! III: TAKING ON THE WORLD! is the third part of the football film trilogy Goal! and is directed by legendary music video Director Andy Morahan. Taking place during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, it sees Mexican footballer Santiago Munez (Kuno Becker) pitted against his Real Madrid team-mates and England players Charlie Braithwaite (Leo Gregory) and Liam Adams (JJ Feild) in a mutual quest to lift sport’s ultimate prize. Also starring are Nick Moran and Tamer Hassan. Santi is motivated to try and win the trophy for his late father and family back in Los Angeles and Madrid. Meanwhile, Charile and Liam just want to try and end the Three Lions’ “40 years of pain”.

For all three charismatic footballers, the path to potential success is one fraught with temptations and torments - and all three have to deal with personal issues off the pitch that affects their roles on it. Gracing the screen with a splash of glamour are two beautiful WAG’S: Italian actress Sophia Tardelli and one of our heroes’ ex-girlfriends, June (Anya Lahiri). Also following the tournament around Germany in their St George’s Cross festooned camper van are the ‘Geordie Boys’, whom we first met back in Goal!. Providing the often hilarious fan’s perspective of the matches are Gordon (Mike Elliott), Foghorn (Christopher Fairbank), Walter (Jack McBride) and Phil (Craig Heaney).

The film includes incredible football action shot at the 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany which was shot by legendary Director Michael Apted.

1.0 out of 5 stars Goal III? More like Own Goal, 16 Jun 2009
Basically without any spoilers, whoever rates this film above one star has obviously NOT seen or understood the first 2 Goal Movies, this is one to avoid at all costs, it will ruin your image of Goal. Santiago is pitted against his Real Madrid team mates (who are not even in the first two films at all) they fail to mention that Santiago, the character the film is about DOES NOT EVEN PLAY in the world cup, nor in the whole film. Hes written off the main story within half an hour and the film then focuses on the love life of two fictitious England footballers and the pain of exiting to Portugal at the World Cup 2006. Im suprised Kuno agreed to do this movie as hes more of a guest star than a central focal character. Its low budget which is explains the so called live action scenes but thats not what bothers me, 2 years of waiting for this film and a director, writer etc have ruined the franchise not just for me but for every true Goal Fan. All those unanswered questions left at the end of Goal 2 (Santis unborn son etc etc) will never be discovered, in fact, all past characters are not even mentioned. So if you want to watch a GOAL film, just watch the previous two and make up your own conclusion of the trilogy, because you certainly will not find it here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Goal ?, 15 Jun 2009
By J. D. Walpole - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
What an utter train-wreck of a movie, the Goal trillogy was supposed to be about the story of Sanitago Munez, a Mexican kid from the streets of LA who makes good, well the first two installments are, and you'd be forgiven to think that the next step would be a finale where the Munez story concludes at the world cup....... but no.

Goal 3 isn't even about Santiago Munez, he barely features, the story is about two fictious England players that have not had a mention in the story thus far, it feels like a cheap spin off of Goal rather than the concluding part of the Munez story.

No Anna Friel, no "Gavin Harris", just toe-curling cliche after cliche, just a huge disapointment to those that enjoyed the first two installments of this football tale.

If I could give no stars, I would.
