Well as an avid dragonball/z fan i can honestly say this movie was a complete shambles to anyone who has seen dragonball and knows the story, to anyone who hasn't they might find it enjoyable, but even then i dount the guy i went to see it with doesn't watch the anime and didn't enjoy it at all , the story is very disjointed from itself and bares hardly any relevance to the original other than there some guys called goku,roshi,yamcha and piccolo and some girls called chichi and bulma but it manages to invent some out of nowhere and then forget some of the greatest characters in the show (tienshinhan and krillin) the movie is awful and i would not recommend it to anyone , the fight scenes aren't even good from what i remember it was mnostly goku running around as an oozaru....( for some bogus movie reason).
Do not waste your money.

to be fair this was never going to be a classic, but still i hoped they would stay true to the manga and tv series. what the hell was roshis island doing in the middle of a crater in the city?!? maybe someone tried to bomb james wong for making the movie, but missed. my one star goes to james marsters who i thought actually did really well as piccolo and deserves credit for giving it a go! i eagerly await a sequel!

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD. The movie makes a complete mockery of the dragonball franchise, Goku isn't a kid, Goku doesn't go to high school, Piccolo is green, the kamehameha wave is NOT a wind technique and CANNOT HEAL PEOPLE!!!!! I could list all the problems with this movie but it would take up two much time which I really do not want to waste reviewing this movie. But I'm going to keep this as short as I can. Dragonball Evolution is an incredibly short film that was terribly thought out holding no decent tribute to Dragonball, it's only positive outcome is the money it gave the creators for murdering a decent anime.

btw if you think that the action scenes might be good, you are wrong. There is one half decent fight between Goku and some high school guys but THAT IS IT. The climactic battle between Goku and Piccolo amounts to ONE PUNCH!!!!!

So please don't buy this, it's horrible!

And with that my rant is over

Such a gross representation of such an iconic and beloved series. Firstly the actors were terribly cast, secondly the storyline was god awful, absolutely dire, it's almost as if the director or screen writer hadn't even seen the original series before, and lastly the animation was so piss poor it made me eyes bleed. If I had the chance to summon Shenron at this moment in time my only wish would be that this film was erased from existence, forget immortality or becoming a super saiyan, this movie is the worst representation of Dragonball Z I could have ever imagined. Don't waste your time watching to see if I'm right, because you will definitely regret it.

This film is a lesson. A lesson in how to ruin an amazing franchise. I'd like to say one thing, all those people who say it's okay if you ignore the Dragonball connection are just wrong, even ignoring it the film is terrible. With Bad acting throughou and pathetic fight scenes. The main character, Son Goku, is a rather stupid interpretation of legendary anime and manga icon, the actor who plays him ( I can't remember his name) is just bland, his acting varies from boring to watch, to incredibly boring to watch. The plot is a silly interpretation of a rather solid story arc from Dragonball , and the villain, Picollo, is just hillarious to look at (I couldn't take him serously) So I end this review with a lesson, if this is what happens when the western world interprets stories from the eastern world, then don't bother, it'll just be Godzilla (1998) all over again.

I wanted to write a review of this film to warn other potential viewers just how bad this is. But I now find that I don't have enough words to adequately express my complete loathing. Suffice to say that the only thing that entered my mind as I tried to watch this was that it was an attempt by the director to insult DB and DBZ fans whilst simultaniously stealing thier money. This is the only jutification that I can give to such a mind bogglingly horrendous film. DON'T SEE IT. DON'T THINK ABOUT IT. Let it fade and hope, in similar fashion to the two hulk movies, that it gets picked up again by someone who actually gives a toss about the film they're making.

There have been a lot of people who have said this is a bad movie, that it's an insult to the famous Dragonball anime series and that it's not worth watching at all... LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE!!!

There's nothing worth watching this movie for, I don't think I've ever seen acting this bad and even though I only have a basic understanding of the Dragonball series, the only thing this film has in common with the series is the title.

Save your money and buy something that's actually good.

believe me this movie is properly the worst movie ive ever seen.
The movie is based off a japanese anime and manga known worldwide as dragonball (if you couldnt tell) and the fan reaction for this movie is....to be honest(being a fan myself) i felt like this was a slap to the face of every dragonball fan there are so many thing wrong with it i cant explain.....anyway fans will not like it but what about a normal viewer.... well i watched it regardless of the errors cause i believed they could pull off another spiderman (just not 3 though...) but i was wrong.
Ok so story is....
young goku is training with his grandfather gohan
goku wants to learn how to speak to girls and is given a dragonball
goku gets bullied at school
goku is in love with a girl called chichi
gets invited to a party from her on his birthday
goku ditchs his grandfather to go to party
teaches bullies a leason
find out that his house is destroyed and was told to find a master roshi
later find out that a demon called picollo which had earlier killed gohan for the dragonball anyway the whole plot later says that goku has an evil thing inside him called ozaru
goku has to fight picollo the end
ok thats over now i was willing to give this movie a go but there was 2 things that put me off
1. the acting is horrible its like its from a school play.....for a 5 year old
2. the CGI is terrible too the wire work looks fake and the fireballs are just so wrong they look like some guy just painted over the screen ive seen better grafics from superman 4 the quest for peace
and as for the script....... just makes no sense
now as if you ask a fan of the series he could write a book on how much this movie is wrong.....but i wont
this is worse then the super mario brothers movie (yes that movie)
please avoid this movie like the plague
