Perhaps my favourite "Madmen in suburbia" film, along with "Nightmares in a Damaged Brain". Distinguishable from other films in the "slasher" video genre, and I feel it rises above a lot of other former video nasties, (when it went under another of its titles, "Absurd").. It has a superb electronic soundtrack , a good plot and there's not too many dull moments. Inevitably, as in all films of this kind there is a lull midway before the classic finale. I loved that the invalid girl plays such a vital role at the end, and it was really a touch of genius to have the switch of soundtrack to the gothic classical music for the finale. Also got to be one of the greatest final moments in horror at the end, very macabre. Overall, an underrated gem of a film so I give it 5 stars.

Just to keep it short and sweet. An entertaining Italian slasher (And a UK Video Nasty) in which an insane killer who's on the run, wreaks havoc in a small town. Being a former 'Nasty' expect to see some very gory deaths which are worth the admission price alone. The Disc itself is lacking extras but the picture quality for the most part is great (Taken from 2 sources of Videotape so sometimes you get a fuzzy image) and the Mono sound is good too! Overall, it's an entertaining movie and a welcome addition to my collection.

After the "success" of Anthropophagus the beast, Director Joe D'amato and his actor chum George Eastman decided the world needed a sequel, put there heads together and lo! Cult video nasty absurd, released by mya under the alternate title Horrible, though the film is also known as monster hunter in some terretories.
As fans of anthropophagus are probably wondering, after the ending to that one how is there a sequel?! Well though it's pretty much re-using Eastmans character from that movie, the film itself is unrelated, so people who have missed anthropohagus(and some may say thats a good thing!) are not going to feel alienated watching the movie. The plot is fairly straightforward, due to a nuculear experiment good ol george has been turned into a rgenerating monster who after escaping the hospital after getting impaled decides the best thing to do is go on a killing spree (seriously, i'm not making this up!)
Anthropophagus was one of those love it or hate it kind of movies, the acting was variable and after a good start it petered off until near the end when it became a complete gore fest. Horrible (absurd) is pretty much the same thing in that respect except d'amato at least paces this one somewhat better, making it more of a gorey slasher. Fans and collectors of the 'video nasty's' that were banned in the u.k. and people who love mental italian splatter movies like this one should definately buy this, as it's one fans have been clamouring for. Those who hated anthropophagus or simply dislike trashy gore fuelled bizzarre mutant movies like this should remove two stars at least from the review and avoid this like the plague.
The film lacks extras, though after seeing the fine job mya did with other releases I'm fairly certain it wasn't their fault.

A man get impaled on a spike on a metal fence but when he gets taken to hospital they discover he is a self regenerating maniac. He then goes on a murderous rampage including attacking a disabled girl her brother and babysitter leading to a bloody climax.

Also known as- Absurd the title it was banned as a video nasty and Antropopagous 2 a sequal in name only to D'Amato's earlier Anthropophagous,
released in 1981 this is an out & out attempt by director Joe D'Amato to capitalise on the then huge market for stalk n slash/slasher movies and to his credit this isn't a bad one either. Apart from a few killings the first half of the movie is a bit ponderous but when the madman (played very well by George Eastman who also wrote the film) gets to the house where the 3 main victims are the movie does get a lot better. D'Amato does create an atmosphere of tension with the killer stalking his victims, the violence is quite gory enjoyably so and nowhere near offensive. Certainly one of Joe D'Amato's best straight horror movies with not one sex or nude scene anywhere in the film. Unlike a lot of Halloween rip offs (lets face it that's what this is) this is a fun fairly well made slasher with a great soundtrack.
