The Wombats + Los Campesinos! = The Answering Machine

Nothing new here and if you like the bands above you will no doubt like this band and album. The album is consisent and doesn't have one bad track on it! But to be honest this is to bouncy castle for me and boarding on the fringes of pop music and i hate the word pop music!!

If i was going to put this cd in my hi-fi and crank up the volume and open all the windows in my house so the whole world can listen to it and two fit women walked by and looked into my house and saw me sitting down on my suite listening to this i would be extremely embarrassed. Now on the other hand if i was blasting out Kasabian, Louis XIV, Dogs, Maximo Park and The Apartment it just wouldn't faze me at all. Nice album but play this behind closed doors and shut windows to avoid embarrassment.

Now I'll do the math on bouncy castle:- If i was jumping up and down on a bouncy castle in my garden and having joyous fun and got caught by my friends, girlfriend or parents I'd be so ashamed and embarrased i would have to hibernate for a whole year.

It's fun and joyous but don't cool.

I buy a lot of albums and came across this pretty much by accident on the Amazon site and bought it because I liked what I heard of the available 'song samples'. I've had the CD for less than a week and must have played it literally dozens of times. It is the most infectious, uplifting package of indie guitar pop (with a punky edge) that I've had the pleasure listening to in a very long time. As mentioned by one of the previous reviewers the album has rock solid consistency throughout and is particularly well-produced for a band's first album. I drove up to see the band live this week in Sheffield playing to a 'crowd' of, at most, thirty people and they were great. Not only that, but I had a chat with them afterwards and they came across as very friendly, modest and unassuming young people - for whom I predict a great future. TREAT YOURSELF - BUT THIS ALBUM NOW!

No messing here, just get stuck in. This is a truly amazing album with no weak tracks on it. Every song is great, especially 'Emergency', 'Cliffer' and 'You should have called'. Also download 'Decadent' too. Gemma's got an amazing voice and this is a lovely song.

Can't wait for them to headline a tour.
