Product Description

Episode 144. A New Squad! Two People and a Dog?! Naruto is having trouble with the two brothers, and Iruka is having his share of difficulties with Mizuki. Iruka struggles to try and get the old Mizuki back, but Mizuki soon reveals that he was only nice to Iruka because he wanted the Hokage to like him just as much as he did Iruka. Is it possible for Iruka to return Mizuki back to the way he was before? Can Naruto defeat Fujin and Raijin? Episode 145. A New Formation: Ino-Shika-Cho! Naruto's backup has arrived and they are Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji. They tell Naruto that they will take care of the brothers. Naruto leaves to catch up to Iruka, who is fighting Mizuki. Can Naruto arrive before Mizuki kills Iruka? And can Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji hold off the two idiot brothers? Episode 146. Orochimaru's Shadow Naruto, Iruka, and Pakkun meet up with Mizuki's fiancé, Tsubaki, whom has come to offer help to the three. As Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji try to stall the two idiot brothers, Tsunade discovers some startling information involving Mizuki and Orochimaru and decides it's time she took actions of her own. When Naruto, Iruka, and Pakkun finally catch up to Mizuki, they witness him undergo a monstrous transformation. Can they defeat Mizuki? Episode 147. A Clash of Fate! You Can't Bring Me Down! Mizuki is determined to make Naruto and Iruka suffer, and it appears like he has the upper edge with his improved strength and speed. Meanwhile, Ino, Choji, and Shikamaru are at their limits, and now Fujin and Raijin are free. Just when it looks like the end for the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, Tsunade appears on the scene. Can Tsunade stop the rampage of the two brothers? Will Naruto and Iruka defeat Mizuki? Episode 148. The Search for the Rare Bikochu Beetle! Naruto is unable to search for Sasuke due to Tsunade's orders, while Kiba and Hinata wonder how they can help him out. Shino remembers a special type of bug that, if found, could easily track Sasuke down. They go and discuss it with Tsunade, who agrees to let them search for it, making Shino the leader. Tsunade discovers Naruto eavesdropping the conversation and lets him go with them, but can they complete a mission with only a 10% success rate? Also, they're not alone! A mysterious group is also after the same thing. Episode 149. What's the Difference? Don't All Insects Look Alike? The group struggles to find a Bikochu, but seems to fail at every turn. Naruto messes up a few times, nearly getting them eaten by a giant Bikochumo bug in the process, while the group continues to be watched. However, when it starts raining, they only have one more chance to find it. Thanks to Hinata's Byakugan, they succeed in finding one. Their celebrations are short lived though, because Hinata's kidnapping forces them to make a critical decision. Episode 150. A Battle of the Bugs! The Deceivers and the Deceived! With Hinata's safety in danger, the group must try and figure out a way to save Hinata, and protect the Bikochu at the same time. Every time one side seems to have an edge though, the other reveals yet a new trick. As dawn approaches, they don't have long to do either. In the end, Naruto, Kiba, and Shino fall into a trap. Can they escape? And can Hinata save herself from her current situation? Episode 151. Blaze Away, Byakugan! This Is My Ninja Way! With the group trapped, Shino makes a deal to trade the Bikochu for Hinata. Unfortunately for the opponents, Hinata got away, making the deal worthless. They decide to kill Naruto, Shino, and Kiba instead, but back off when they see Kyubi's eyes. They begin to attack again, but Hinata steps in to save the day. Now it's Hinata's turn to shine, and show off her new technique. But, will it be enough? Episode 152. Funeral March for the Living When Naruto saves three guys, he is dragged into yet another mission. However, unlike t

3.0 out of 5 stars Escaped Convicts, Bug Hunts and Funerals...Oh my!, 3 Jul 2009
By J. Snook "Ichigo_2020 - Anime Buff" (Wales) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
Naruto and his ninja comrades return for some more 'filler' adventure in Naruto series 6 part 2. Carrying on from where it left off last time, Naruto and Iruka are in the clutches of battle with escaped covict and ex-leaf village Ninja - Mizuki. Luckily they are given a helping hand from team Ino-Shika-Cho, however when Mizuki taps into Orochimaru's power all looks lost. However, it's not going to be the end of Naruto today (or for another 80+ episodes), so predictably enough our spunky blonde headed ninja pulls through and shows Mizuki what he's made of. The next episodes on these 3 discs see Naruto teaming up with bug freak Shino and Canine crazy Kiba as well the timid Hinata. These 4 set off in search of the rare Bikochu beetle which has phenomenal tracking powers, and thus may be Naruto's ticket to finding runaway ninja Sasuke. After this, we see Naruto team up with yet another group. This time he's joined by Ten Ten, Neji and hyperactive do-gooder Rock Lee as they attempt to take down a sadistic gang of thugs who are burying people alive.

The 13 episodes in this set are as follows:

144.A new squad! Two people and a dog?!
145.A new formation: Ino-Shika-Cho!
146.Orochimaru's shadow
147.A clash of fate! You can't bring me down!
148.The search for the rare bikochu beetle!
149.What's the difference? Don't all bugs look alike?
150.A battle of bugs! The deceivers and the deceived!
151.Blaze away, byakugan! This is my ninja way!
152.Funeral march for the living
153.A lesson learned! Iron fist of love
154.The enemy of the byakugan
155.The dark creeping clouds
156.Raiga's counterattack

As you may suspect, these fller episodes aren't as well thought out or rich in plot like previous story arcs, however, they are lighthearted, easy to watch and perfect for hardcore Naruto fans looking for some more ninja action and adventure. Casual viewers of Naruto need not bother with these filler episodes and should just wait until Naruto Shipuden arrives on our shores in (hopefully) 2010. The main goal for this collection of episodes seem to be in order to give some of the secondary characters a spot in the limelight. Which is fine if you're a die hard fan of the show, as it mean you get to see some other characters in action for a change. However, don't expect lots of characerisation as there is no attempt to flesh out any of them at all. The closest it gets is with Hinata as she shows off some new moves in order to protect Naruto and her team.

While these episodes offer nothing new or groundbreaking to the series, they do create some nice comedic scenes and give some of the previously neglected characters some well deserved exposure. However, if you're only a casual Naruto viewer then you're better off trying out some better new anime releases like Claymore or Gurren Lagann.

3.0 out of 5 stars And into the filler arcs...., 28 Jul 2009
By L. Anderson "Anime Addict" (U.K.) - See all my reviews

And so, on the 12th box set we have finlly hit the full blown filler arcs before Shippuden...oh goody...
Okay, don't get me wrong, on a personal note, I truly enjoyed this box set. In my own oppinion, I think the episodes are still managing to keep a decent amount of storyline and entertainment with them without going too astray. (Then again I'm a complete Narutard!!)
However if you aren't someone who's desperately into Naruto or if you just love the storyline but could do without the filler arcs, I probably would recommend stopping here and waiting till Shippuden is released. (Roughly another year maybe?)
To be blunt, when the fillers are looked at closely, all you will notice are a constant reminder in every episode that Naruto WILL find Sasuke, battle sequences that drag on for an average of 4 episodes and an unbelievable amount of spamming the shadow clone jutsu...along with some natural Naruto drama!! On the plus side though, through several of these episodes, we get to see how everyone's techniques have improved (with most of them having a completely new jutsu developed)which is pretty good...but overall nothing too major or significant takes place.
Personally, I don't mind that, but my advice to most would be to save their money for Shippuden...or start buying the manga...but if you really hate fillers, then I don't think this box set's for you.
