Role Models is directed by David Wain who also collectively writes the screenplay with Timothy Dowling, Paul Rudd and Ken Marino. It stars Paul Rudd, Sean William Scott, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Bobbi'e J. Thompson, Elizabeth Banks and Jane Lynch. Music is by Craig Wedren and cinematography by Russ T. Alsobrook.

Two energy drink salesmen (Rudd and Scott) are ordered to perform 150 hours of community service as punishment for an offence that occurred when their company vehicle was about to be towed. For their service, the two men work at a program called Sturdy Wings that is designed to pair kids with adult role models.

Personally I avoided it until now because it just sounded like another lame American bawdy comedy about two slacker dudes who create chaos and then grow up by the end credits. This in spite of the fact that I rate Rudd highly and have often found Scott watchable in small doses. As it happens, the film follows the standard formula of plotting but rises above it with funny dialogue, a commitment to its characters and an avoidance of the sort of treacle thick sentimentality that is out of place in this type of comedy. It's also expertly performed by the cast, with the youngsters doing their shift admirably.

Yep, there's adherence to poignancy and type, while the odd scene just comes off as being too smug and clever. But there's so much fun to be had here it doesn't hurt the film, it's a true pick me up if you are feeling down, a splendid case of a cast finding chemistry across the board and delivering on the promise of the zippy script. 8/10

Role Models is a really funny film. Stiffler and McLovin in the same flick! What makes the film work, aside from the slapstick laughs is that at its core it has genuine heart. The viewer can genuinely warm to the characters who are all outsiders in their own different ways.
The last twenty minutes or so when the cast are dressed as fighting fantasy characters doing battle in a live action gameplay scenario is side-splittingly funny.

This is a brilliantly funny film in the same vein of Knocked Up and Superbad.

Basically Sean William-Scott and Paul Rudd are co-workers and upon Rudd's wife leaving him he loses the plot and whilst at work gets both himself and his co-worker in trouble with the police. As punishment they get to be role models to a total nerd (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and a young Stiffler in the making.

This is hilariously funny with excellent writing, acting and cast. I loved the Whispering Eye reference it was so funny.

Non stop laughs!

A brilliant comedy, nothing tops it. A cast of misfits thrown together in the worst situations. every character is played beautifully and the film is full of cringe worthy moments that will make you laugh until your ribs hurt. My all time favorite.

'Do you know what I used to have for breakfast? Cocaine. Do you know what I used to have for lunch? Cocaine.'

'What you have for dinner? was it Cocaine?'

Me and my boyfriend were visiting New york and we decided to go to the cinema, as we were told the seats were amazing! We hadn't heard of anything that was out over there and it was just pot luck we picked Role Models as we both thought Paul Rudd and Sean william Scott were ok.
I can tell you i am so pleased we chose that film! it was sooo funny, there was not one bit that didn't get the audience howling!! i loved it, i can't wait till it comes out over here. The kids that are in it have such different characters but are equally hilarious! They both did really well! Now me and my boyfriend love Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott! It is truley the best comedy i have EVER seen!!!

Not only did I love this film prior to purchase, through the delights of random television films, I also received a /handwritten/ note within the package, which made me extremely happy, due to undetermined reasons. this note politely asked for a review, and so I oblige.

Keep up the handwritten noting, it's wonderful.

I was sold on Role Models almost instantly - starring the lovely Paul Rudd, and the hilarious Seann William Scott and esteemed Christopher Mintz-Plasse (aka. Superbad's McLovin') - it made me laugh about 5 seconds into the film. A good start. I also laughed continuously throughout and well into the extras.

The film begins with work colleagues Danny and Wheeler during a day's work. The guys promote Minotaur, a flourescent green energy drink. They travel from school to school, talking about how drugs are bad, and Minotaur is good. Wheeler, a bit of a simple guy, is a ladies' man and loves his job. Danny, on the other hand, suddenly realises he's 35 years old and hasn't done anything with his life, having worked in the same dead-end job for a decade. Things go from bad to worse for Danny when he argues with his girlfriend, who then dumps him, and finally crashes the Minotaur promotional truck. For dangerous driving, damage to property, etc, not surprisingly, the guys end up in trouble with the law. Danny's ex is a lawyer who agrees to help them out - and as an alternative to 30 days in jail, Danny and Wheeler are sentenced to 150 hours community service. But instead of picking up litter and scrubbing graffiti, they're sent to Sturdy Wings - a service which pairs up an adult (Big) and a child (Little) who then spend 'quality time' together. Cue recipe for disaster.

The rest of the film deals with what happens with Danny and Wheeler and their Littles. Both Littles are very unique, and the guys have their work cut out for them. Role Models comes to a very satisfying conclusion, with some real belly laughs in between. I love this film - it's funny, heartwarming (in a weird kind of a way!) and hugely entertaining.
