Synopsis

Combine the juvenile smut of SUPERBAD with the cringing embarrassment of PEEP SHOW, against the 'stylish' backdrop of GRANGE HILL, and what do you get? E4's hilarious comedy THE INBETWEENERS. A super sharp, one-liner packed celebration of the highs and lows of being a teenager. Perfectly capturing the relentless disappointment of suburban adolescence, the show's four main characters yearn for sex, booze and cheap thrills, without the emotional maturity, money or ID to get them. Briefcase-carrying nerd Will (Simon Bird) has recently left the relative sophistication of private school to join Rudge Park Comprehensive, where he befriends Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison); a group precariously straddling the social gulf between the in-crowd and the outcasts. This release contains the complete first and second series.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best and funniest British comedies I've seen for years!, 13 Jul 2009
By KM (England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
I hadn't seen any of THE INBETWEENERS when it was showing on E4 but after strong recommendations from my friends I decided to give this a go. I sat down to watch it yesterday morning and 6 hours later I had finished them all - it is that addictive. It tells the story of Will, a 12th year student who moves to a state school after being bullied at his previous school. There he eventually makes some new friends who are not popular enough to be the cool kids but not nerdy enough to be the geeks, so they are the inbetweeners. The show deals with getting girls, school, parents, alcohol, bullying and everything else that makes up the everyday life of a teenage boy basically.

If you imagine Grange Hill but with mouths that you wouldn't believe kiss their mothers then this is what you'll get. It is rude, hilarious, in some ways realistic and most importantly - very watchable. The characters are all fantastic, each one of them I'm sure you can relate to either yourself or someone you knew back at school. The script is very witty and fast-moving with some extremely memorable one-liners.

I've only watched these the once but I am already a fan. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be watching these all again very soon and I look forward to seeing series 3 when it's on now. Highly recommended! Tell your "fwends"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant new comedy, 19 Jun 2009
By Antonio Moncayo (Zaragoza) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This a gem of a new comedy about 4 kids that are not cool enough to be popular and not geek enough to be nerds are they are desperate for one thing , sex. It offers a very good portrait of adolesence mixed with an excellent sense of humour.

After his parents divorce Will is moved from a nice private school to a new comprehensive where he teams up with another 3 six-formers. The show was voted by the British Comedy Guide website as the "Best New British TV Sitcom 2008.

The dialogue ,plot and soundtrack are brilliant and a pure joy to watch.

The extras include deleted scenes and a video diary of the main actors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anti-Skins and much funnier!, 25 May 2009
By A. Chakrabarti (Manchester) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Mentioning Skins conjures up a certain idea of what teenage life might be like, although for the most part it's pure fiction. The Inbetweeners is probably more akin to real school life in that there are situations we've all seen or people we know or in fact scenarios that may have happened to yourself.

The Inbetweeners are neither pure 'jocks' or pure 'geeks'- they fall inbetween- clever, eh!?

To broadly summarise the 4 main leads, there is: Will- posh, no social skills, up himself and clueless with women, Simon- good looking enough to make it with women, but obsessed with one girl and no social skills, Jay- sex obsessed: talking and thinking 24/7- but alas never had sex and no social skills and Neil- nice but dumb with no social skills. Get the trend here?

If you liked Teachers or Peep Show, this series will be right up your street. Like Teachers, there is a cracking soundtrack of music from the last year or two.
