DVD Description

The ladies of the Clatterford Women's Guild are back for a second series of the acclaimed Jam & Jerusalem. Set in a small west country town, Series Two follows the continuing exploits of ex-practice nurse Sal Vine and the memorable - and not a little eccentric - members of the local Guild. Written by Jennifer Saunders and starring some of the best-loved names in comedy, Jam & Jerusalem is a comedy that takes an affectionate look at village life and the empathy and togetherness found in a local community where everyone knows everyone's business.

Synopsis

JAM AND JERUSALEM is the hilarious yet poignant comedy series from the creator of ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Set in the small town of Clatterford, JAM AND JERUSALEM focuses on the Women's Guild; an organization that was established to promote qualities such as truth, tolerance and justice but its members are far happier gossiping, as recently widowed Sal is about to find out when she joins the group. Contains all the episodes from the show's second series.

5.0 out of 5 stars One for the ladies, 20 April 2009

A must watch - I am not sure that Devon ladies will appreciate being depicted in this way but some of these characters are definitely identifiable. Really funny, and full of catch phrases that you will find yourself repeating.

5.0 out of 5 stars I pray this comes to the USA in August too!, 18 Feb 2009

In the states we Yanks call this show "Clatterford" and I am able to watch most of season two on YouTube. I can't wait until this season comes on DVD to America! You Brits do a lot correct, especially your humourous television shows.... We love you guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Under rated and unmissable!, 4 Aug 2009
By N. Taylor (Worcester UK.) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The second series of Jennifer Saunders subtle and endearing comedy/drama, (yes, drama!), continues where the first left off, seeing all the members of the original series reunited. (Joanna Lumley however makes a spectacular "exit" early on).
If anything, this series is an improvement on the first, mainly i think because the charecters are so rounded and developed, thanks to the writers incredible perseption in peoples everyday lives and interaction. Some tough issues are tackled here and some quite dark undercurrents are briefly exposed at moments almost deisgned to shock, this said, even those are handled with sensitivety and humour.
This collection; six episodes in total, benefit enormously from re-watching, like Victoria Wood's "Dinnerladies", it matures and the watcher appreciates more of the skill in the writers and actors talents with each repeated viewing.
Criminally ignored by and large when first transmitted, now you can sit back, relax, and like a good book, soak it all up at a leasurely pace....bliss!
(The third series is being scripted at the moment and should be out early next year).
