A Red Hot Release WWE is finally starting to relise what the fans want again, 7 Feb 2009
This DVD is a must have for all Kane fans it is the first time ever that a compilation of his matches have been released outside of US soil.
There are many of his greatest matches and moments all presented by the Big Red Machine himself in character which is a shame as you don't get any real analysis or background story on his bouts with this set being heavily kayfabe there is no Issac Yankem DDS. or Fake Big Daddy Cool Diesel stuff here.
Unfortunately as with any WWE release they always miss things out that you want and give you things you don't care about his is the case with this as they thought it was appropriate to put a load of tag matches in that don't even feature Kane that heavily when they could have easily substituted these for his 2006 inferno match with MVP or his 2003 World Heavyweight title match with Triple H.
The only other problem with this set is there seems to be allot of advertisement for the undertaker in the way of extras as on the first disc one of the extras is basically a video package about the year and a half build up on when Kane debuted but off course they didn't even mention Kane until about a month before hand he was dealing with mankind for most of that period.
This set gets 8/10 a definite buy for any Kane fan

Greatly flawed in places, but still a satisfactory release of the Big Red Machine, 9 Aug 2009
One of the greatest storylines ever in wrestling was in 1997 running into 1998. The Undertaker's (then) former long-time manger turned arch-nemesis, Paul Bearer, vowed to change his life forever. For months, Bearer declared that the Undertaker's younger brother was coming to the World Wrestling Federation. The younger brother...called Kane.
After such phenomenal build-up, Kane finally arrived, resulting in an awesome storyline that only blossomed in the Attitude Era. Since then, I've been a huge Kane fan. The character itself represents true creative-genius, but I've also greatly admired and respected Glenn Jacobs, the wrestler who portrays the gimmick. Aside from being a professional, the man is also a very talented big-man wrestler, who knows how to use his size, power and uncanny agility to have a great match.
When you look back at Kane's decade-plus WWE career, he's accomplished a lot to be proud of. A two-time world champion (WWE and ECW), two-time Intercontinental champion, ten-time tag team champion, former Hardcore champion, most eliminations ever in the Royal Rumble (2001) and many major victories over the biggest legends ever in the business. So when you think about it, YES, it's about time Kane was honoured with a DVD.
The Twisted, Disturbed Life of Kane is a 3-disc set, a match-compilation show done in the style of Edge: A Decade of Decadence. Glenn Jacobs is in full-character here, introducing the matches and explaining the circumstances that led to them. Presentation-wise, its works, with Kane's menacing persona shining through. However, it doesn't succeed as well as the format on Decade of Decadence, mainly because Edge's character suits this kind of presentation much better.
Match-wise, The Twisted Disturbed Life ISN'T the greatest thing to come from WWE Home Video. But this has never really been Kane's fault as a performer. It all comes down to truly moronic booking which has tarnished the character. The mediocre feud with Jericho, the `Impostor Kane' storyline, and the whole ludicrous thing where Kane MARRIED AND IMPREGNATED Lita?! GOOD GRIEF. And don't get me started about Katie Vick...
There're a lot of matches and career moments of Kane's that deserved inclusion here. For example, his awesome feud with Vader that solidified Kane's initial push as a frightening, unstoppable monster. There should be tag title victories with Mankind, Big Show and the Undertaker here, along with Kane's Hardcore title win at WrestleMania 17 and his match with Chris Benoit. Then there's his Vengeance 2005 encounter with Edge, and the Mask vs. Title bout against Triple H. And how about his PHENOMENAL performance from the 2001 Royal Rumble? How come instead we've got a dull and dire no-holds-barred match against the talentless Snitsky? (What did Vince SEE in him?!)
Things like the Last Man Standing match against Chris Jericho are average. The Triple-Threat Tag Title bout featuring Edge, Christian and the Dudleys is good, but there've been much better bouts featuring the Brothers of Destruction. The Title unification match against Triple H is passable and the Undertaker encounter from the SmackDown! after WrestleMania 24 is absolutely poor.
Fear not, though, because there ARE such gems here. When booked CORRECTLY, Kane can truly deliver in storylines and in matches. And that's clearly evident with his blood-feud/inseparable bond with the Undertaker, his brilliant feud with Pete Rose, his wars/alliances with Mankind, his partnerships and fallouts with X-Pac and RVD, his attempts to reclaim his humanity, the war against The Power Trip, his nightmarish unmasking/unleashing and his fantastic clashes against Shane McMahon and Umaga are all such worthwhile viewing.
The highlights are obviously his awe-inspiring wars with Taker from WrestleMania 14 and the Inferno Match at Unforgiven. The Last Man Standing and Ambulance matches against Shane-o-Mac are BLINDING affairs, the tag team bouts with RVD and X-Pac are great stuff, and the subsequent cage matches against them feature brilliant storytelling and action. Plus, there's an outstanding brawl against Mankind (which Mick is very proud of), a monstrous slugfest with Umaga, an absolutely SUPERB match with Kurt Angle and the battles with Edge (although tainted by a stupid storyline) are great fun to watch.
There's also the historic First-Blood match with Stone Cold at the 1998 King of the Ring, where Kane captures his only WWE Championship in a brilliant all-out fight. And the Chain Match against Triple H for the Intercontinental title is the greatest match of Kane's career; a brutal, violent war with another pleasing outcome. Decent encounters with Shawn Michaels, Matt Hardy and King Booker, a solid Belfast Brawl with Finlay and a terrific tag match with Taker against Booker and Finlay round-off this collection.
As for special features, there's bags of high-quality to be found here. "Undertaker's Secret" is a fantastic extra which takes a look back at just how the Kane saga originated. "Kane vs. Pete Rose" is a brilliant compilation of how the baseball legend has felt the wrath of the Big Red Machine again and again at WrestleMania. There's some fantastic interviews featuring Kane hilariously impersonating the Rock and Hogan, and RVD and Hurricane. The interview with Jim Ross is truly nightmarish, horrific and perhaps Kane's greatest segment EVER. The WrestleMania 24 extras where Kane won the battle royal and crushed Chavo Guerrero to win the ECW crown are real nice extras too. Just IGNORE the twenty-minute torture that is Kane and Lita's wedding and you'll be alright. Look out as well for some delightful Easter Eggs that are hidden.
So...is The Twisted Disturbed Life of Kane ESSENTIAL? NO. Would I recommend it? To die-hard Kane fans, certainly. For everyone else, rent it and think carefully about owning a copy. There are some terrible moments that this DVD (and Kane's career) could've done without, but there's a lot of classic stuff that both redeems and outweighs the negative. It's definitely worth watching to remind ourselves just how awesome the Big Red Machine can be and how he deserves so much more. Despite the faults, though, I consider it a great package. I'll be generous. Four stars.

Not as good as it could be, 3 April 2009
This dvd really doesn't do Kane justice. It is full of filler bouts that make this dvd seem like a wwe rushjob. Only a handful of the matches featured are enjoyable and the dvd is weighted with uninteresting tag bouts which feature kane performing the same moves in a quick couple of minute outburst. WWE really should have done better maybe a 1 or 2 dvd release with the best of kanes matches would have been much better and a much better tribute to the character of Kane.
